Re: MiST VGA upscaling experiments

Hi! CONCLUSIONS: 1.) The efficiency of this scaler depends wholesale on the given core: If it's a PAL-only core without YPbPr output option, there's only a little chance that it will work. 2.) Compared to the low price, it can be a cost-effective solution. 3.) This device would be much more useful ...

Re: C64 core problems.....

Everything seems to work .. CRTs (standard ones ) .. disk writes, etc.. Thank you for taking the time to merge in those updates!!! For future readers: but I did notice the 1541 implementation doesn't seem to have the diskchange bug fix done with the C16 core (so some demoscene demos wont work as the...

I believe the last guy working on the C64 core for MiST has stopped all work on it.. AFAIK there is no one currently working on it now.

Re: Moving MIST (etc) sub-forum into it's own main forum area

thanks for that! It's better now. I think it's better not to make too many sub-forums: it tends to confuse people to find the right section. Just a single one for MiST (and MiSTer), newbie questions and all the core into the same part is fine for me. MiST and MiSTer are not really binary compatible...

Re: AMIGA: MIST vs Pi3 vs Vampire/real Amiga (4000?)

I always thought it was a bit odd that the main "MiST" forums was hosted on an atari site .. (not that I ever owned an atari machine in my life) (I am however interested in them as they are retro systems .. perhaps one day I will have a machine).. It wasn't until a short time after I got m...

Re: MiST 1.3+ and NullModem (Amiga Multiplayer)

I ordered a Max232 from ebay as they are only a few dollars. I have attached a picture of the 1.3+ IMG_20170811_211147.jpg You can see that the expansion header(SV2) is missing and the Midi connector is part of the main board (no longer separate) Picture of 1.3 board with the SV2 header. https://ww...

Re: MiST 1.3+ and NullModem (Amiga Multiplayer)

I think you would need to use a MAX232 because the voltages coming out of the Mist would be TTL level and wouldnt work well (possibly fry) when connected to standard serial connector.. I am not sure what the situation is with the 1.3+ as far as the pins/connections needed, with the older MiSTs you c...

Re: why has it stopped?

No I suspect its a legitimate concern of many current MiST owners who lack the time or technical skills to assemble their own MiSTers.. Such a device is out of reach for them .. Once the SDRAM board design is stable / tested by a few then it should be possible to have somebody make a larger batch a...

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

I've already explained that main problem is NOT money. If you will run around offering the money to everyone, then someone will eventually get your money and will go away. Money will help if there is a demand of money at the first place. If you think you can solve everything by money, then you are ...

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

I think people offer to contribute money because its really the only way they **CAN** contribute .. perhaps they lack technical skills (if everyone could code an FPGA core we would be drowning in them) .. and other people lack the time to do debugging .. but yet they still **WANT** to contribute.. Re: MiST Atari ST settings

Remember that FPGA is not emulation: it's hardware. it should be but it is not... If it was hardware, every game or demo should work like the original computer... it looks like an emulator on hardware but its not.. its a re-implementation of the original chip logic in new hardware.. Simulation or r...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

But It's possible to define some universal bus on GPIO where different extension boards will be connected. It can be SPI/QSPI bus which should be DIY friendly bus. And then with help of tiny MCU it will be possible to connect DB9 boards, RS23 boards, and even IDE boards. That's my proposal. thats a...

I'd be curious to see if a C64 Koala pad would work with that arrangement.. it connects to the db9 but its not a joystick.

do you know if there is a OSX or Linux version of the cmd2cas converter?

Perhaps your monitor doesn't support the video signal generated by the core (this is a big issue with Mist and a great number of cores.. some work fine.. other cores dont.. personally I found Samsung monitors most compatible .. others have said BenQ are good as well) .. When I am home I can try this...

Are there enough free lines to the FPGA to support legacy I/O connectors for things like disk drives, serial ports, tape drives, parallel ports and other old devices? {granted yes I know it also has to be supported in the core and some sort of interface would need to be assembled}
