Re: Did the Atari Jaguar Leave a Lasting Legacy!?

@christos what do you mean "new role as an ST based console" - I thought the Jaguar was a totally different architecture to the ST line?

Re: Drawing program for Atari ST

All of these will be limited to 320 x 200 x 16 colours: DEGAS NEOchrome Canvas (my favourite) Or Spectrum 512 will give you 320 x 200 x 512 colours. You're talking about game graphics right? There is modern PC software dedicated to bitmap editing too, it'd probably be easier to convert from modern f...

Re: Atari ST question

MrPixel you cannot fix a 2018 graphics card to an Atari ST. Graphics cards did exist I believe, but they were all circa late '80s, early '90s, very expensive, and very little software (e.g. no games) will take advantage of them.

Re: Is this possible?

An Atari ST which was released in 1985 will not be capable of running arcade games released in 1994 or 1998.

Re: Is this possible?

There are lots of arcade conversions on the ST. Almost none of them (except for maybe some early games?) are perfect, most needed to be cut down to the STs graphics / memory / sound constraints.

Re: a simple way to hide all Mist/Mister posts

I don't mean any bad feelings towards the Mister guys, but I think when > 50% of a forums posts are not on the main subject of the forum (Atari 16/32 bit Computers), perhaps they need to be migrated to a new forum. As I type this the active topics page has 50 posts, of which 26 are in the MiST / MiS...

Re: a simple way to hide all Mist/Mister posts

I am still for outsourcing them completely from AF due to the sheer volume of posts by now. This makes sense to me - it is its own stand alone product - it should have its own forum. My issue is I consume this website via active topics RSS feed - can an active topics RSS feed be setup without inclu...

Re: What does Atari do better than Amiga?

Not sure if I understand the purpose of this question. If you are talking base original machines (ST vs A500), then the ST has a slightly higher (was it 10%?) clock speed than the Amiga, which meant a slight advantage to the ST when doing CPU bound tasks. The only application of the top of my head w...

Re: Frontier Elite poor frame rate - booster required!

I remembered Wing Commander Yet another on my rapidly expanding list of must play games that I never did back then. I swear I spend more time finding out about the games and getting them to run on modern hardware than getting down to the business of actually playing them. I think I must be a kind o...

Retro Man Cave reviewed this on Youtube recently. It looks really bad. I recommend that channel though - he does some quality retro content.

Loved this game, and have recently been thinking about how to hack it. Dont the trainers let you turn on / off different features individually, one of them being infinite fuel? I suppose you aren't asking for infinite. To be honest I only tried the proper game without trainers a few times. I remembe...

*puts my hand up* Hi, my name is Simon. I owned an ST for a long time, then much later got a PC - I never went the Amiga route. I am a veteran of the format wars, obviously the ST side, however I do acknowledge the better hardware of the Amiga. Now, I am setting up a MAME / emulator station, and... ...

Re: Upscaling recorded videos

I take it you cant just record directly in HD (full screen) to start with? Might sound like a silly question, but there are still people who record in 240 "because why record in a better resolution than the original hardware?" Well there is one incredibly good reason - playback looks like ...

Oh man, thats sad. I was only just reliving my Mercenary (on the speccy) memories a couple of weeks back. Seriously that game was amazing. Damocles was good too - very impressive. What a genius programmer - should be as well known as Braben & Bell.

What IBM did with PC was atrocity! In lack of GUI each program set his own set of shortcuts! ... but wrongly use Ctrl as main shortcut key instead of Windows key... Windows key was only introduced in 1994, and only ubiquitous with Windows 95. I don't think it was IBM's place to impose UI guidelines...

Re: 'communication problem with people'

Just my 2 cents worth here - AtariZoll you tend to write longer posts than usual - very long posts actually. You seem to take a lot of words to say something that could possibly be covered in a much smaller post - which is ok, I understand communication not in your own language can be an issue. Its ...
