Re: Processor comparisons

I will make a little contribution to this infected thread. :-) I used my Falcon with CAF for professional recordings until 1997. After that I switched to PC, and along with the switch all the problem. It took at least 2 years before the PC was equal to my Falcon setup. That means a PC from 2000 run...

Re: Processor comparisons

...now as for DSP processing you could run a Yamaha CBX-D5 on a PC just like you could on an Atari and then there was TDM which also did all the heavy lifting for the computer... The Yamaha CBX-D5, year 1992, is a digital track recorder (4 tracks) originally intended to be used with either an Atari...

Re: Processor comparisons

Dear mate; I still disbelieve as Thomas the apostle, that PC I do not think that was able to record 16 audio tracks, I have seen more powerful configurations and failed for those years.
Are you sure of its effectiveness?

Re: How to lock/close thread ?

Hi AtariZoll, I just want to let you know that just because I might disagree with you on the issue of free speech that doesn't mean that I don't respect you and I am sure there are lots of things we probably do agree on. For the record I only have one account on here so don't go confusing me for a ...

Re: How to lock/close thread ?

I will give my opinion in clear use of freedom of expression, but I do not pretend to represent the personified truth: it is simply my opinion: 1- There is no "Total User", or I do not know it. It is very difficult to find in a single person a programmer, hardware engineer, sound technicia...

A very original protection system, I did not know that increased difficulty for the piracy.
Thanks for the info and I hope someone makes that contribution.

I am amazed to see how some limit the freedom of expression demanding that the fascism be banned, but it does not say anything of prohibiting the communism that holds the world´s greatest genocide and continues being legal in many countries. Re: Something positive, for change

Thank you for reminding me, it is an honor for me that an Atari genius remembers an insignificant user who only expressed an opinion, like you express yours in a public post. This is the end of this, but it is clear that the ignorance of English language not mean that he is a Spaniard, as a good com...

Re: Something positive, for change

You're wrong, Peter. My problem is that I only have one word, and when you wrote me a PM saying that I had to stop this situation by arguing (several days ago): I answered you sincerely and the situation stopped. My problem is that all people do not have one word. But you still see enemies where the...

Re: Something positive, for change

I do not like to play Sherlock Holmes, but a simple Google search provides basic information, at least the forums where he has participated, his date of entry, etc. English is the official language of Australia, but there are also other variants.
Prejudices are not good.

Re: Something positive, for change

Well, there are many countries that do not speak English. A Spanish Amiga user already has enough condemnation for choosing the wrong machine, but I'm sure he would tell you his opinion sincerely, he does not need fake nicks or hide. That user is not Spanish. Greetings. José Antonio ("Atarieter...

well known amiga fanboy from http://eab.abime.net/ I guess this is another dlfrsilver fake account. For me it looked rather as someone from Spain. Re: Original 1040ST needing parts.... doners?

You make a good point. But the only way to find out is to populate the board and see what happens. I did find a GLUE ic in my parts box, and I have the TOS. So I am missing only 1 square chip. Is there a diagram with labels the show which TOS rom goes into which TOS socket? https://www.exxoshost.co...

Re: Processor comparisons

God save the "lack of features"!
I believe that performance should be measured generally and therefore all factors intervene. Fast CPUs are useless if they are surrounded by slow and inaccurate ineptitudes de hardware and software.

Re: Processor comparisons

Some, who made huge claims here should correct self - it is not CPU what is not capable for something, but some concrete computer architecture. Nobody omits the complete architecture or hardware and software accessory set, you also said it in an earlier post. The point is that none computer with th...

Re: Processor comparisons

So yes, a Falcon with an 030 (especially with a DSP) could do things a 386 or 486 could not. But try something that takes raw CPU power and watch a 486 or even 386DX40 stomp a Falcon into oblivion... So everything is very relative, it is not equal to compare processors thinking of Doom or Quake, th...

.. I am sure that anyone has seen that it is a simple errata and I wanted to indicate "386". Even a simple musician like myself know that many more factors intervene in the operation of a computer besides its CPU, but an Intel 386 with all the software of the world and all the peripherals...

Re: Processor comparisons

The point is that Intel 356 is not capable of recording 16 audio tracks even if a miracle is requested. That comparison is as relative to the utilities that they have had in each epoch. Sure, Intel 356 is not capable. Something what exists not is not capable  And what some CPU is capable d...

Ah, well, now I recognize the cable; I think I was one of the first to buy it from our friend with a very brief name.
It is a good adapter.
Thanks.
