HDMI problems

This is an old bug, but i don't remember if i've mentioned this: If MiSTer is powered BOFORE TV/Monitor, then most likely you won't get the video output on HDMI. Even pressing reset won't make the video working. The only way to get a video output is to power off the MiSTer and then power on again. P...

Re: NEW OR UPDATED ARCADE CORES

Thank you for the nice offer. Let me have a more precise look to MiSTer architecture before deciding to develop directly for that target. Because I have not much time to spend on that hobby it will takes me some time. I intend to choose an already existing MiSTer core and look at it for some detail...

THaase wrote:But why should I do so?
Either the core supports SDRam or not - why would I like to swap?

To replace it with SRAM module or other type. That was original idea. Acrually, i don't think swapping the modules is a good idea, but who knows.

Re: I/O Board thread

Vertical SDRAM board is higher than 10mm fan.
Probably 20mm fan will be ok. May be couple mm higher than the board.
Anyway, it's up to personal preference as MiSTer has no official case(yet). Originally SDRAM is supposed to protrude outside the case for swapping.

Re: Core porting questions

Oh thanks I missed the hints in the Porting guide. So they are "only" needed for the hdmi scaler? VGA Output should work without them too? So far I can not try it on target, because my IO-Board is still not here ... These signals are used for VGA too. For blanking and OSD. See the sys.top...

Re: Introducing "SNES on FPGA"

For those who are not following the news items as closely as I. In light of the announcement of the Super NT SNES FPGA by Analogue jwdonal the developer of the VeriSNES confirmed once more that his goal is to get his core open sourced. Terrific news! I hope he accomplishes his goal. :D Quote: "...

Re: Build Environment

Thanks the Makefile works now out of box. I hope that the shared libs that are used are bundeled with the Linux-Distrbution, and that Your Linux is derived from the Altera Linux Version and therefore should be compatible with the Altera Libs no matter which gcc is used. Otherwise I would like to ha...

Re: Archie Core

Archie core is far from perfect. I do porting as-is with most cores original bugs. In most cases i never had original retro system and know about it very little, so i cannot fix bugs in original code. Actually every core needs dedicated developer who is familiar with original retro hardware. I'm por...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Check the FPGAGen core. It uses simple DDR3 access. More complex usage of DDR3 you can see in ao486 core. DDR3 data is transferred on both edges of clock, so with 32bit bus it provides 64bit data on every clock cycle. Actually, bit-ness on MPFE bus has no relation to physical bit-ness of memory. Mem...

Re: Introducing "SNES on FPGA"

I don't know where these developers got idea that they can earn big money on their retro console replica. Although it's hard to make a precise replica of SNES, there is no commercial point of view to invest the money to this. There is already perfect emulator running on ARM CPU which cost nearly not...

C99 option has been added into recent commit on repository.
Note: MiSTer is dynamically linked against libraries, so correct work is not guaranteed if you don't use gcc 5.xx.

Re: Core porting questions

I am trying the only core I am really interested in, the Mist core (ATARI-ST). It will be a hard work. MiST core is similar to Minimig - it has very special support on ARM side. It also uses many custom commands over SPI. Although i've ported ARM part of MiST to MiSTer, this part of code was never ...

Re: Core porting questions

Which core are you porting?
Minimig is pretty complex core. Not good thing for study. Look in something simple like ZX core.
