Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

The problem with the sometimes inconsistent tempo is that the HPS ARM is on the low end of what is required for MUNT, so it really needs to be tuned. People have reported the same issue with older model RPis. I see. Actually the tempo issue exists only when midi is played on HPS which is just for t...

Re: Joystick testing thread

As for generic BT: i have an idea! Can use small MCU board like ESP-32 with integrated BT and write a special firmware making it work like 8bitdo but for any XInput/DInput gamepads. and quick search giving this link: https://www.instructables.com/id/ESP32-Bluetooth-BLE-Remote-Control/ There is a pro...

Re: Joystick testing thread

Unfortunately there is no such thing as "Generic BT receiver". There are many different BT chips, so it will bring a lot of problems to find a compatible BT receivers and drivers. And besides the driver BT needs additional software support. It also requires a pairing procedure. All this co...

Does anyone has Mayflash USB receiver? Does it support random generic BT gamepads, or only specific like PS3/4/XOne/Wii gamepads? From the Q/A for the item on Amazon: Q: Will this work with third party wireless xinput controllers? A: No The question is being answered by the item seller "Shop4F...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

here is the test version of ao486 with ALSA support: ao486.zip Works good. Tested with Tie Fighter + Roland (MUNT). So hybrid emulation is here now :) mpg123 sounds perfect, but leaves a lingering high pitch sound (on analog) afterwards May be mpg123 leaves some non-zero sample at the end? I don't k...

Fluidsynth plays correctly.
So, only mt32d has problem with tempo. And probably it's only in shell. Need to test it with Minimig/ao486 - it's possible there won't be such problem.

by 'non constant midi tempo', do mean MUNT, FluidSynth or both? I am looking into the tempo problem with MUNT, however I not am having tempo problems with FluidSynth. I'm talking about mt32d - is it MUNT? Can you give more clear command line how to start FluidSynth? The one you posted above is uncl...

To work as 2 different controllers, this adapter should present 2 HID devices.

check what devices you see in /dev/input

Re: Wifi

Basically linux is not plug-and-play OS. So you can't expect that random WiFi adapter will work. It's not like Windows where you install supplied by vendor driver and it will start to work. The best practice is to read the tread and check what dongles are confirmed to work. Another approach is to an...

Turbotap (miltitap) is implemented inside the core. It has nothing to do with real Turbotap addon for real PCE console.
Because not all games work correct with Turbotap enabled, there is an option in OSD to switch to 1-gamepad only.

Basically, Patreon is not suitable for MiSTer as a donation system. I think Paypal is more suitable - just donate once or whenever you want without subscribing which you may forget later and find unintentional money spending. Patreon is more for those who provide media content like musicians, blogge...

Anyone can setup the Patrion with bounties you've mentioned if it will help for him to develop such features (but it must be open source of course). I do whatever I want and can. I'm self-motivated enough without additional bounties.

Thnx, I just tested fpga /media/fat/menu.rbf, but I see on the serial console a full reboot (I see u-boot messages), so it seems equivalent to reboot now, at least if I use menu.rbf; am I wrong? As i've told earlier, core loading will trigger the reset of HPS part. Yeah I see... It's just that in t...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

here is a possible way to limit it: i know it. But you can't write any size as it will affect the continuity when buffer will be too small. I have a new idea for buffer. It looks much better and will allow to use very small buffer on FPGA side. Also, the problem we were having with the distorted so...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

I've played MP3 with mpg123 - it works well. I've expected to hear the crackle due to output 48KHz playback has no connection with alsa, so it should either starve or overflow. But i didn't hear any crackles! This is promising. I even moved spi buffer transfer directly to device_write function. 16KB...

with uda1341 aplay start to work correct.
But as i start mt32d, aplay switched to the old behavior. It seems mt32d reset the settings.
Also midi still plays in improvisation mode.

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

Thanks for finding! Together will will make it work reliably. Still if you think IRQ from FPGA with precise rate would be better than semi-software hrtimer, then it's not a problem to make. FPGA has 64xIRQs :) There is only one quirk - IRQ will be generated by cores knowing about it. Non-updated cor...

Re: Scaler

Currently there are no cores which can output native resolution higher than 1280x720. So there is no point to set output resolution to 2K or 4K. It's enough to set 1/4 resolution of your TV, so for 2560x1440 TV it's enough to set 1280x720 and let the TV to do integer 2x scale. So no artifacts will b...

Re: Scaler

the cores must be recompiled with .OHRES(4096) as a parameter to the scaler (without that, it shows a clipped image). This will double the BRAM usage by scaler which is too much. And since frequencies beyond 200MHz are unreal for ADV7513 (165MHz max from datasheet), there is no point to compile wit...
