Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

So i see lots of MISTer fpgagen videos on youtube but not a single MIST one. We could now really use the cooperation of some of you users. Make a cool video or e.g. post about the MIST/fpgagen on sega16.com. I think you have a point. Some MiST videos would definitely be nice. MiSTer is much simpler...

Re: Poll about prefered scaling quality

Is it just the HDMI output IP that requires the pricey license? - and is it technically possible to use the HDMI output without it? (if so, is there any code in the OSSC project that may be reusable here?) HDMI output IP license is only required for compilation of a portable binary (.rbf) that has ...

Yes! It works! Thank you - I was wondering what was breaking with the install of BestWB.

Re: Genesis Core

Thanks - Sorgelig! I did a re-test and the latest release Genesis_20181016.rbf works (also without aggressive optimizing).

I guess I had a glitch on my end. All good now.

Latest core release hardly displays any picture for me (Genesis_20181016.rbf) - All is black or completely garbled. Anyone else having issues?

Genesis_20181003.rbf works flawlessly...

Re: MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

I guess you have a v5.5 I/O board. Correct? Yes, those are a bit more streamlined. v3.1 and 5.2 (the ones I own) had more pins ... Anyways, for the v5.5 (which I do not have) my best bet would be to use the existing 5v fan pins. Just attach a 12v fan. Use a noctua fan and it should spin up just fine...

Re: MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

I use a 40x40x20 fan with halfed voltage. The problem is that solution requires additional soldering skills (that I don't have) and it's not as plug and play as just swapping the fan. I do not know what soldering skills you are referring to. I/O-Board of MiSTer hast plenty of connectivity options. ...

Re: MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

Larger fans are not really required imho. I use a 40x40x20 fan with halfed voltage. With lower voltage noctua fans run nearly silent. I use this one https://noctua.at/en/nf-a4x20-flx for both my MiSTers. As for the case, 5.2 universal is still the go to case. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:268466...

Re: Broken Micro-USB power connector MiST 1.3

Yes - go for the barrel connector. A lot of Mist have this issue. Soldering should be easy. Of course you have to drill a hole in your metal case too. Normal handheld drill will do. Maybe there still pics for the procedure in this forum. Topic has been discussed previously. :coffe:

Great to see your are making progress on this. Also I noticed some random resets in other Arcade cores (e.g. Moon Patrol). Could be completely unrelated but maybe an easy way to investigate sdram issues. Assuming these cores are less complex of course.

Re: Navigating folders in OSD

It may jump to the rootdir if no <corename> folder exists. Yes, that is exactly what I see. I have a bunch of cores without the proper folder named after them. I tried to tidy up the rootdir by making subdirs independent of core names. Guess I will have to switch folder names now and get a more cro...

Navigating folders in OSD

Enjoying my MiSTer :D I found that folders named like the running core are treated quite differently than folders with no specific core name. While being in the folder with the specific core name (e.g. /Genesis for the Genesis core) the OSD remembers the subdir I navigated to. So, when I re-enter th...

Try enabling vsync_adjust=1 in MiSTer.ini and restart your system. Works for me. Sadly not all hdmi input support it, however.

Re: Help with starting cores (no video output)

Memtest should work and could be used to confirm your sd-ram board status. Also maybe consider another hdmi monitor. I have some hdmi splitter/matrix that act up using the vsync_adjust. Try toggling it. Make sure to cold boot de10 after adjusting the ini. Also cold start your hdmi monitor as sometim...

Off topic but I couldn't help but notice the tape over the power light of one of your switches. It's one of those ridiculously strong LEDs right? I wonder why there's so many devices with those... I did some minor tweaks and now everything fits perfectly. Tolerance are tight but it even works without additional screws. I will leave the screw holes is anyway, just in case it develops slip over time.
