Re: Introducing "SNES on FPGA"

For those who are not following the news items as closely as I. In light of the announcement of the Super NT SNES FPGA by Analogue jwdonal the developer of the VeriSNES confirmed once more that his goal is to get his core open sourced. Terrific news! I hope he accomplishes his goal. :D Quote: "...

Re: Introducing "SNES on FPGA"

@Sorgelig: I share your view! One has to be a real geek to look into FPGA for retro gaming these days. I would estimate that the audience world wide for this kind of hobby is below 1000 individuals. Happy us few ;-) Anyway for those who want to play spot the MiSTer on the pics in the link below http...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

It will not be your MiSTer if all other cores look fine. Maybe try it on a different Monitor with HDMI in and compare. I encountered heat related HDMI scaler issues in the MiSTer once running ao486. But those looked more like "snow" / bright white pixels appearing randomly. Those issues di...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

You mean the image is noisy? Hopefully, this shows what I'm trying to explain. IMG_0654.JPG Yes, looks like an interlace issue on your scaler back-end? Maybe you are up-scaling it to 1080p? MiSTer outputs 720p natively. I uploaded a video showing no issues with hdmi output on the mentioned core. Al...

Re: SMS core

Thank you Sorgelig !! Great port! I uploaded a short video captured from he HDMI Output. https://youtu.be/yPHEmD2lN-U - SMS Core 20171002 At the moment the core does not offer any filter options for the picture. However some filtering appears to be applied. While the VGA output looks nice and sharp,...

Re: Flea Ohm Zero - FPGA AMIGA (Minimig) in a RPi-Zero-Formfactor

I like your board and the form factor - smaller is better ;-) Having had trouble with shipping Indigogo backed hardware from overseas to Europe before might I ask you what your experience was with the 90 boards you already shipped in 2015? Any luck getting them through customs in Europe? Maybe even ...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Looks like he needs some time to work on the outputs. However, it is great to see he is using the MiSTer platform. We waited a long time for an SNES core. I do not mind to wait some more. In the video he promises to get the core to us. That is great news! 8)

You are right. I have a heat sink lying around. So will will get to it soon. I just want to test without first, so I can optimize the case a bit (if necessary).

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

About the fan distance. Maybe it make a difference to have I/O-Board installed like I do now. I guess cooling the board will also help to keep the main DE10 board cooler. But that is just guessing really.

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

For what it is worth I release my .stl files for the logo I printed.
I used a dual extrusion method for it to get the letters firmly sticking to the background.

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

Sorry to here this :( - Maybe you could add some shims to get it closer to the chip?

I will do some testing with my setup later this WE. But Again everything looks good for me so far.

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

Also please test the direction of your airflow. It should point at the chip not away from it. So it should suck air onto the chip. Mixing up polarity or mounting it the other way could end up with a situation, that could lead to too much heat. But again, I can not troubleshoot this remotely. Maybe m...

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

I did not encounter any heat issue yet. I only tested the ao486 core with the case continuously for an 1hour. Playing some Spear of Destiny and installing windows 3.11. Actually I felt the case itself and it was much colder. This of course was expected as it is nearly twice as big. I used a 12V fan ...

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

MiSTer - Case Universal v1.2 I remixed the Universal Case for the MiSTer to now support the I/O-Board 2.7 . I increased also the distance between bottom and the pbc to allow for more air flow. Only the top shell of the case remains unchanged and can be used with this version 1.2. The original screws...

I strongly support the additional SD Card option. This would enable other developers used to other terasic/altera boards join the MiSTer community more easily. Great idea!

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

Thank you for your comment. I am sure that I will do another v2.0 case design when I get my hands on an I/O board. I then will think about your idea again. PLA is not the best material for mechanically strong parts. So any form of lever will break off easily. ABS or PETG would better suited. Also I ...

The memory is sticking out but maybe somebody likes the idea ;-) Maybe someone wants to jump on the idea of a mechanical design for securing and ejecting th...

Re: MiST: high carrier noise from the sound output

Was this one of the things that Lotharek addressed when doing the MiST 1.3+ redesign?
http://lotharek.pl/zasoby/produkty/201/ ... ge_log.pdf
That is the reason he moved the vga output further away from the audio, right?
