Re: Testing: Support for more HDMI resolutions and other changes.

Same here no change noticeable - HDMI stays at 720P with my monitor no matter what number is set in the .ini.

However, I like the idea of a large range of supported resolutions...

Re: MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

For all of you looking for a silent fan option for your MiSTer. I tested the Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX 5V connecting it to the 3.3V rail. While it is shoveling quite some air it is now only noticeable when pressing the ear against the case - nothing I like to do often ;-P So for anybody being plagued by a...

Re: MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

Thanks for your feedback! :) The new case was specifically designed for the 5.2 I/O-board, therefore there are no mounting holes/brackets for a fan in this case (fan is mounted directly on the PCB). As I have also different a I/O-board versions with slightly different button placement, I plan on des...

MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

Introducing a new 3D printed case for the MiSTer: Case Universal v5.2 CIMG0059.JPG I remixed the original Universal Case for the MiSTer to now support the I/O-Board 5.2 . The I/O-Board 5.2 now features a second SD-card slot and a protruding SoG switch rendering the older Case Universal 1.2 version o...

Re: VGA --> RGB for 1084S Monitor (solved!)

@seastalker: sorry to disappoint - I am not producing the cable myself. But as bernoulli stated - it is quit easy to make (no inline components - only direct connections to solder). I used the following forum entry as reference https://circuit-board.de/forum/index.php/Thread/18387-1084S-RGB-Scart-Ad...

Re: MiSTer for Dummies

De10 Nano is pretty forgiving when it comes to power. Do not worry. OSD will show even when no keyboard is attached. You have to get the sd card prepared by the tool, you need the partitions to be correctly setup. Try another sd card maybe, or try using Linux to prepare the card. However, the window...

I think it is a great idea. :) :P I would use this tool when setting up a new card. While not yet having look at it in detail ye,t do you think it would make sense to have some sort of selection menu to select the cores (edit: ok - I see there is already a selection option in the .js file) and maybe...

Re: Question about HDMI Capture Devices compatible with MiSTer

I use a AVerMedia Game Capture HD II - Maybe try switch the audio parameter in the MiSTer.ini - sometimes this helps 8) About the AVerMedia Game Capture HD II, does it do passthrough of the video even if the unit is off? Can it record directly to a USB thumb drive? It looks like a very nice recorde...

Re: case and I/O panel ideas

I like Newsdee's suggestion for a standardized case. Makes sense. But it should remain a case and not a new project imho. I like Sorgelig's approach to MiSTer and his effort to standardize the daughter boards as much as possible. It makes it easier to design cases in the first place and also helps t...

Re: VGA --> RGB for 1084S Monitor

Okay - I have a hunch of what could be going on.
I read that the old analogue RGB of my 1084S uses a combined H.Sync/V.Sync that is outputted by some old machines (amiga and genesis) on the same pin as the composite sync signal. Maybe the MiST simulates this somehow?

Re: VGA --> RGB for 1084S Monitor

Thank you for your suggestion. The picture rolls on the MiSTer RGB connection independent of the core in use. The 1084S offers a so call Analogue RGB which works without vertical sync. Vertical sync is identical to composite sync here. It has not vertical sync for analogue RGB at all. It also offers...

Re: VGA --> RGB for 1084S Monitor

I understand - no problem - It is not urgent  :) I used my shoddy DSO138 Oscilloscope to get a reading on the H sync pin (VGA pin 13). Both MiSTer and MiST looks very similar. MiST looks more stable though and MiSTer signal seems to disappear in regular intervals. Maybe this is a clue. But ...

Re: VGA --> RGB for 1084S Monitor

Sadly I have no real oscilloscope. I can only test it against the MiST output (i.e. direct comparison). But this is of limited value. Actually I did know that the VGA Output of the MiSTer is mainly used for development. I guess I just was happy that the old monitor worked on the MiST first try with ...

VGA --> RGB for 1084S Monitor (solved!)

I just completed a cable to input the VGA of the MiST into my old 1084S D1 CRT Monitor using the 9 pin RGB input. After disabling the scandoubler in the MiST.ini I got a perfect picture on the MiST, just like I got from my old machines. Trying the same cable with the MiSTer I was not as lucky. MiSTe...

Re: NEW OR UPDATED ARCADE CORES

All three cores (Defender, Phoenix and Xevious) work fine with HDMI and VGA (Mister_20171016).

Maybe it would make sense to have some folder structure available now. My menu cores start getting a crowded OSD with all the cores :-P

Thank you for these great cores!!
