Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Thank you for your feedback. I know that the phone jack hole is quite big. But so are phone jacks plugs. They come in different forms and sizes and I hate phone jack not being accessible because of pieces of case being in the way. You will end up with a wonky connection or with just one channel audi...

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Not all MiSTer are created equal. I created a few different versions of back panels fitting different I/O Board versions of MiSTer. Panels for original MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 case. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2964178 Capture.JPG Panels for original **MiSTer XS Case v2 for SDRAM XS - extr...

Sadly no - not without the source to compile it from. However, at least an SOF would enable use to flash the FPGA temporarily for testing out the core - but really that is all it is good for ... testing.

Works for me. Although I did press save state before quitting. Not sure if that is required but it worked. The name was saved. 8)

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Yep - connection points are an option. Still quite large at 2mmx2mmx2mm each... hm. But really I can also add more panels for more option. No ugly cutting required. Let's see. The case is the Uni 5.2 version one. Fits every board configuration of MiSTer with or without v5.2 I/O board. The combinatio...

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Good idea (mostly for injection molded case design). For printing there is at least for shapeways a minimum wall thickness (mostly around 2mm) otherwise they will not print the design due to fear of damage during post production steps. This will make break-aways next to impossible with them. For nor...

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Not really - or have you seen a home printer using a sinter laser process using nylon? There are no seam lines and less aritfacts (like ghosting etc). Also all 3d printed pieces will have to get some paint to really great. But I have not used the shapeways nylon myself, so lets wait until someone pu...

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Finally received my new top case plus buttons : It perfectly works ! Closeup picture shows rough plastic like a piece of bread. How it feel - smooth polished or rough? Can you make more pictures where texture of surface/edges is visible? I've though the case should be smooth and pretty close to pre...

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

I do not own a USB board. Also no standard for spacer height and connectors is established as far as I know. Maybe when I see some boards and maybe get one myself I will think of creating an update for the case :)

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Thanks for asking. I guess I did not explain it too well. Look at the pictures below. You can see that the button size for the XS is way smaller than the size of the regular v52 case. The red prototype was the size of a regular v5.2 button not an XS version. But it works the same. 8) How to use it: ...

The pixel was always there. It was also present on MiST minimig core. So not really related to the new built.

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

I did the same treatment to the XS v5.2 model hosted on shapeways. So now buttons should be operational after a swift assembly process.

Any comments or feedback is welcome as always :P

Yes :D - once they get hold of the software shapeways is using to verify prints and organizes production. This service should become really affordable.

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Okay - It really bugged me that shapeways would not be able to print the buttons in the TOP Shell models. So I did another (slight) re-design of the case's Top Shell ... https://www.shapeways.com/product/YE5XSF42N/mister-case-universal-v5-2-top-shell-1-4?optionId=65445485&li=shop-inventor...

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

I already removed the tops with buttons from shapeways. Apparently shapeways uses some pre-processing algo that causes the fusion of independent parts. I know that thingiverse has a hub that brings together printers and non–printers. Use the „order this printed“ button to find out more https://www.t...

Re: MiSTer Case at shapeways (nylon plastic)

Thanks for sharing the pictures and your experience. About the buttons. They are designed to be moveable and are printed in place. The design worked well for FDM printers. The laser sinter method used by shapeways could cause same to be fused with the case. On the pictures it almost looks completely...

Re: MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

I would be interested in see your photos too :) I guess it depends on the push buttons you use. I modelled the XS close to the v.5.2. And my v5.2 buttons can be pushed without to much force, so it works without spacer for me. But sure - space are a good solution should you have the need to compensat...

Re: ATARI ST Core

Sadly, as far as I remember, the sources for the Atari ST core are not available to the public. Ergo no port will happen. Re-implementation of the core will take a lot of effort. I have my MiST on standby should I feel the urge for an Atari core - so getting a MiST remains an option for you too. :)
