Re: Solution for higher resolutions on STE?

Woulnd't this test also apply to the TT030 with it's higher resolution modes? I think most proper GEM based programs wouldn't have an issue. But just because it looks 'gem-like' doesn't mean it's actually using GEM. I assumed this with Phantasie 1-3, but they don't quite work right on the Falcon, gr...

Re: Best Electronics

Ha, I thought for sure the last items I ordered from him were going to cost a small fortune to ship. It was the Wizztronics Falcon rack mount kit, and some smaller things. I think from California to Utah was like 30 bucks. Wait, what? He still had one of those? I thought he sold out a *long* time a...

Re: Happy new Year 2018

Ha, you mean like how I was all about getting a sweet Amiga set up then suddenly Amiga.org was blocked at my new job, I came home from work one day and fired up the ol' girl and smoke came out of it because the accelerator board I had spent 800 bucks on a year earlier had decided to burn out the mem...

Nice to see you around Rodolphe, any chance to expect something Atari related from you in the near future? :) Wondering that myself! Re: Dilemma: Mega STE or not Mega STE?

Doesn't MSTE have an internal IDE interface? If so, then you can easily connect an CompactFlash card, as they support IDE mode. CF-IDE passive adapters are cheap and easily available. Nope, only computer in the ST line that had built in IDE was the Falcon (internal IDE, external SCSI) Mega STe and ...

Re: Can't find a US 2.06 TOS image

I absolutely hate that crap. From what I could tell, they changed that because the hard drive manufacturers wanted to skimp on sizes. So a 1TB drive is actually 1000GB instead of the old ways where everything was a broken out into 1024. The most frustrating thing for me was that they then changed 1...

Re: Atari Flashback 8 Gold In US to Uk

I would assume so, since it's an HDMI output? Probably would be best asking over at AtariAge, since this forum is more about the 16/32 bit systems, and AtariAge is more for all around Atari stuff (including the flashbacks)

Re: Can't find a US 2.06 TOS image

They all show 262KB on my Mac when they are unzipped. That's because Apple correctly (but maybe confusingly) uses SI unit prefixes. A file that is roughly 262000 bytes long will show up as 262 kilobytes. Whereas when there is talk about 256kB Atari ROMs, these are what the IEC wants to call kibibyt...

Re: Modern OS-es, pros and contras, experiences with ..

For MAME game data, I think it's about 68GB for roms, unless you tack on the ones that require hard drive images, then it easily goes up to 1TB+ Been awhile since I looked at the actual size of that though. I think it's only my latest build (i7-6700k) that can manage to play the newer Gauntlet games...

Re: ST Games based on D&D or AD&D?

Seems all of the Dragonlance ones were released for the ST. Only a few of the Forgotten Realms ones were. Curse of the Azure Bonds is the sequel to Pool of Radiance, and supposedly Pool of Radiance was ported to the ST, but I have yet been able to find it anywhere! Sadly, I think all of the "Go...

Wow, that sounds actually really awesome. Kind of makes me wish I'd waited to get a SuperVidel, just had no idea when they'd be released. Of course now I have a rack mounted case I have to fit the Falcon in, but that's waiting until after I move...

Re: Does it fit? (PicoPSU + CT60e.)

One of the posts was stripped in my Falcon when I got it. I fixed it with these weird plastic beads that you heat up and then you can mold them into anything, then when they cool, it hardens. Stuffed some of it in the hole, put a screw in, let it harden, then shave off any excess.

Re: Does it fit? (PicoPSU + CT60e.)

Interesting. I could test it out here if I could find a 15.5mm spacer, since I already have the PicoPSU. I'll see if I can find / make one. I mean it really is a tight fit now, and I feel like I'd be forcing the screws into place, but 1.5mm smaller, it may just have enough clearance to fit right. I ...

Re: Does it fit? (PicoPSU + CT60e.)

Ha, that is what I was thinking, that it was a mm too high. Gonna have to track one down. Granted I can't get full functionality with the top on unless I mangle the back to fit the DVI /VGA cable out if the SuperVidel. This was more if an exercise for seeing if I got the right size for other people.

Does it fit? (PicoPSU + CT60e.)

In a different thread about fitting a CF card into a Falcon, we went a bit off topic and were discussing fitting the top of the case on with a PicoPSU. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=32744&p=334113#p334113 The PicoPSU I'm using ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045WFZSQ/...

Re: A good place for CF card on Falcon?

Hmm, okay now I am going to try to see if it bends it, because I don't think it was. The top of the heatsink is pretty much flat with the PicoPSU, and they both sit a tad bit higher than the memory stick. Looks like it's 7/8 of an inch (that sticks out of the ATX socket) 20171212_122249.jpg Edit: So...

Re: Modern OS-es, pros and contras, experiences with ..

Ha, yeah that is exactly it. I didn't really think it should move forward . Once it is ported, then dissected and made 'modern', it would probably become just as bloated as other operating systems. To me, Debian is the most useful operating system around. But I do like my beefed up Falcon, and one d...

Re: Modern OS-es, pros and contras, experiences with ..

Yeah, the best one could hope for, in my opinion, for TOS/GEM to move forward would probably be something like AROS, where they are reverse engineering the 3.1 version of Amiga workbench on x86, then having an emulation layer in place for legacy software.

Better: http://forum.atari-home.de/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=12796.0;attach=11384;image This just shows you have too many Falcons, would you like to part with one? (just kidding, I have mine, and don't have the cash to part with now... I still need to put mine in the rack case!)
