That would be awesome to remake the game with a fairer balance!

Re: Atari TT030 with additional hardware

Oh! That makes sense! Wonder how much of a collection he still has, some of the stuff kind of made me cry a little that he had to sell it!

Re: SMSPlus for the Atari falcon

I was thinking something along the lines of the Spectre GCR and how it works (though I guess that's mostly just mac roms.) Yep. No Z80 in there. Also emulating a 68k mac is basically a case of patching the ROMs and virtualising supervisor mode. It's a lot trickier to re-use the 68k CPU in e.g. a Me...

Re: Atari TT030 and system V

Actually since Debian/m68k is dead I think the most up to date platform is NetBSD. Debian/m68k is not dead, they're still building packages: https://buildd.debian.org/stats/graph-ports-week-big.png https://buildd.debian.org/stats/graph2-ports-big.png Yeah, so from my understanding, m68k Debian is w...

Re: Atari TT030 and system V

Sweet, let me know how it runs. Seems to me to be the way to keep a system up to date the most. I think at some point I had thrown around the idea about seeing if people wanted to get some brains together and build out a MiNT/Debian distribution. They already have it so you can swap out the Linux ke...

Re: SMSPlus for the Atari falcon

The Mega Drive contains a Z80 as well as a 68000. It could be within reach for a 060 class machine, but I can't see a generic emulator happening for a stock 68030 falcy. "just" running the 68k code natively is not necessarily an easy task either. I wonder if something like a Z80 in a cart...

Re: Atari TT030 and system V

Probably you'll be rather disappointed. The X-Windows protocol was fine when the average Motif application consisted of a handful of buttons and pulldowns. Modern applications (like e.g. Firefox) are worlds apart and way off the capabilities of your TT to be usable (even slow on modern machines and...

Re: Atari TT030 and system V

I think the very first time I ran X11 was on my Mega STe, in all it's glory I didn't have enough memory to do much more than get the X on the screen. I actually think that was one of the driving factors of me getting a TT030, but I didn't do that until a few years later, and never got around to act...

Re: Atari TT030 with additional hardware

if you'd be willing to split the Spectrum VME out, I might want that. There is someone I work with who was looking at getting a TT, but I think he was budgeting out 800 or so? Though if this comes with the ET4000, not sure how much he'd go beyond that.

Re: Atari TT030 and system V

Hey guys, any comments on my post about Atari Unix based on mint and x11 a few posts back in this thread? I am very interested in what you guys think of it. X11 on Mint is nothing new, I had it installed on Mint many years ago on my falcon. It is not a difficult thing to install. If you want to try...

Re: TT030 clone - is it possible ?

I would think Falcon as a base is a better idea as well, simply because of the updated TOS, ability of custom video modes, DSP, etc. If the bus and CPU speed of the original Falcon hadn't been handicapped, it would have made an awesome workstation system. If the software didn't utilize the DSP, the...

Re: Atari800 Falcon/TT030 port

Before we get ( I guess ) the latest build from mikro :) you can play a little bit with really old version ( 1.3.1 ) which is there: https://sourceforge.net/projects/atari800/files/atari800/1.3.1/ ( I remember that about 50% games did work when I tried this long time ago ) Or try the attached 2.1.0...

Re: Falcon & Games

Is this similar to what programs like Backwards does? I know there are several sites where people have patched games to work on the later STs. When I first got my TT it sucked because about 80% of the software I had for it didn't work. Now a lot of it works just fine.

Re: Porting SOTB to the Falcon

Hey guys you know what ? The Falcon is going to leave the desk to free some more room for the Archies and the Q68. Bit of an over-reaction? Well, instead of leaving it around to do nothing, if a little bit of criticism on what you wanted to port makes you just give up and move along, at least donat...
