Well, with selling the Falcon you could add all the accessories that are required for sure, but going prices for Falcons are nuts! Last one I saw went for 1500-1700.

Re: Re-listed Sale Atari TT030

Always wanted the color version of the NeXT. I have a color slab, not as cool as the cube but much cheaper, I bought mine from here.http://blackholeinc.com/specials/blackpremium.shtml Wow, they still have some? I've been looking on and off for one, but while back when I had no money for such things...

Wasn't entirely off topic, there was the question about FTP client that works with Mint. Thanks for a better link, I just pasted the first I found.

Re: New FTP client available

First, you'll note that it's announced as a TOS-only FTP client :) Yes, but since i don't have any ethernet related hardware with TOS, the only way for me to test it was using this combo ;) I think it might be that pftp sets the packet buffer to a larger value than GlueSTiK can handle. I don't thin...

@acsi PM sashapont, or @sashapont, PM acsi.

acsi wants to sell, sashapont wants to buy. I was just pointing out that alanh's post was somehow skipped.

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

Are there many dependencies in Atari land? Seems most are just on NVDI/GDOS. Compatible with MiNT or not? *Needs* MiNT or not? Compatible with XaAES? Compatible with N.AES? Compatible with Geneva? Works only with specific TOS-versions? Needs GDOS? Needs GDOS with vector fonts? Does not work with a ...

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

Nice, yeah I was using the UltraSatan on all the other systems to do that, but of course the Falcon dropped ACSI support. Noticed after trying moving the TT aside for the Falcon that they have different SCSI connections too, so now need to dig through the box of scsi cables I ordered. Still need to ...

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

It sort of solves the problem I always end up with in Atari land. No organization of folders. Then again my Linux system home directory always looks like a mess too, and we have the wonderful folders split up there. I too had that issue when I 1st got my HDD.... the Syquest 44MB and had lots of stu...

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

We're talking about GEM applications here. There really is no "installation". You copy/unpack it to you harddrive and run it. There are exceptions - software may come with their own installer, often with encrypted files and a serial number. No "simple scripting language" can wor...

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

Anyway something that you can use to find and install software with just a few clicks. I have done quite a lot of work on something like this, and abandoned it. Even something as "simple" as you describe gets tricky when you start to run into special cases. Doable for sure, but the amount...

Re: The SECRET VIDEO MODE in an ST: 400 lines in COLOR (and with 72 Hz)!

So while not as awesome as this trick, since it requires an extensive hardware upgrade, some of you might recall the doubleST video modes I documented here: https://blog.troed.se/projects/atari-st-new-video-modes/ Combining that upgrade with this trick will result in: 320x400x16 640x400x4 (and 2560...

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

There are the random ones that have installers that are meant to only be ran from floppy drives. The most popular one will probably NVDI 5 installer. Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

Come on. This is Atari. We’re warriors, not nail fashion specialists. We don’t need Ami-blobs. I tend to agree. What happened with "unpack - run"? Stuff like yum and rpm is totally overkill for GEM applications. Who will create, test and maintain the packages? Totally agree with Joska &am...

Re: The SECRET VIDEO MODE in an ST: 400 lines in COLOR (and with 72 Hz)!

Curious, could something be tricked into using this in 640x200(Medium Resolution) but tricking it to Mono for 31khz? Thus eliminating the need for Monitors that support 15khz?

I would be interested in the Lightning but as far as I can tell it doesn't fit with the Atari FastRAM board in place. Oh well. It's a pity I missed out on the Storm as I've just acquired a couple of 32MB EDO sticks from a friend. I just took my Atari FastRAM card out of the box and looked, that thi...

Ha, did I anger the Atari gods? My UltraSatan just decided to stop working. Or it's the ACSI cable. It powers on, but neither the TT030 nor my 1040STe detected anything there. I actually used your site previously when setting some things up, and also the Xaaes page, which seems to have moved, couldn...

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

Installing MiNT by hand isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world beg to differ.... I think it is easy. Easier than to install Windows by hand i.e. without the installer. Mint, you just copy some stuff over from the archive to HDD and change a couple of lines in your mint config file. Networking...

Re: Amikit style blob/OS for Atari?

Actually when I attempted VanillaMiNT on my TT it just crashed on start up. Or maybe I was trying it in Hatari first. VanillaMiNT is not set up for (or tested with) emulators, only real hardware. What I meant with application blobs is to have a workable system right out of the gate, like a Linux di...
