Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

Well I hooked up this new piece of hard I received and it worked fine with the Firebee. It looks like it is a TBLCF. It is only costs $39 plus shipping and included the 26pin BDM cable. I got mine from Amazon, but you can also get it from this site: http://www.cncgeeker.com/coldfire-usbbdm-debuggerp...

Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

I found another piece of hardware that is cheaper and will try and get it to work. If I do I will post it here.... Went and downloaded the CD ROM software for this device from the manufacture's website. It has the USB drivers and Code Warrior version 6.3. From the file names of the driver this is a...

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

If you use the latest FireTOS from 2014 you are using the correct cpx as well (as the one wich is included is the only working one). So I am really wondering what might be the IDE issue. What BaS are you using? You should give BaS Codewarrior a try and see if the problems are gone. I am sure I usin...

Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

Yeah I an not sure about the rules and all that will the software. I know that the CFF flash patch files are on the P&E website and can only be accessed if you have an account with them. Registering is free. The H-TBLCF file I got from the interenet and can be accessed b y anyone. And Didier gav...

Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

Mathias,

Forgot to say thanks to compliment. I wanted to make it clear as how the flashing procedure is done and to help others just in case they experience the same situation that I did.

Mathias wrote:Gamer, what about your NVRAM values? Did you check with the latest Fireconf CPX (inside last official FireTOS package) what is your boot order?

AS far as I know I have the latest Fireconf.Cpx. I will check though. My boot order is IDE 0 - 1 and then the SCSI.

Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

It dawned on that I did not provide access to the files that updated CF Flasher to work, so they are attached to this message. I cannot provide access to the drivers and firmware to the Multilink Universal. You will can only have access to those files if you buy the MLU. And would not need the patch...

Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

Here are the last two pictures I have. One shows the Multilink Universal working with both lights on and how it is connected to my Firebee. The other is my working Firebee after the a successful flash. Again notice my lighted keyboard is on, on the left the orange light is on and on the far left the...

Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

Hello again all, As you all know, I was flashing my Firebee (the FPGA s19 file) using the flashing tool and the flashing tool crashed. This left me with a dead FB that did nothing when I turned it on. I was told that I had to flash the FB externally using a PC and using a program called CF Flashed, ...

Thanks. I am kind of glad this happened as now I am more knowledgeable in the matter. I am pretty much back. I just have to figure out why the IDE 0 gives a "no answer".

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

I was able to finally CF Flasher to work. P&E steered me to a patch for Cf Flasher. It updates the DLL files and also allows the program to be used under WIN7 (and 8 and 10 I think). I tested it under WIN 7 and it worked fine. I was also able to get updated firmware for my P&E Multilink BDM ...

Well I am a little closer. After getting a new patch for Cf Flasher, the BDM cable device is recognized by it. However, I am getting the error: "Cannot put the processor into the background mode".

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

Anyone ever use debug for this purpose and where to find the program? Gamer, you really should start to read carefully, first the public available informations, and also what a lot of teammembers already wrote to you in many many mails/PMs etc. 1.) dBug is at Didiers website. You can find the link ...

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

Well now I have the BDM Multi-link device and I found an old XP laptop that I can run Cf Flasher so I can re-flash the firebee. However the XP laptop does not have a AC adapter, so I ordered one and am waiting for that. I also talked with Didier and he says he uses debug to flash the FB using a PC. ...

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

Here is basically what happened. I went under EmuTOS (with Mint booted), ran the CF version of the Flasher program, loaded in the FPGA s19 file and ran the flasher. It then crashed. So that screwed up the Rom Flash chip. I can only say if I cannot recover from this and the Firebee is bricked, then ...

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

Okay. I am going to get the Multilink BDM/Jtag cable from P&E. I have CF Flasher 3.1 all setup on the PC. One question. In the CF Flasher there is a space that needs to be filled with the Target. Would I choose the Coldfire-PC?

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

Looks like flashing FB is hair raising.... worst than for my CT63 ?? No, it's nearly the same thing. And it usually just works (I've done this like several hundred times successfully). Nobody knows what gamer did wrong and he doesn't tell. You replace essential software on the board. If you manage ...

The card is toast as far as I can tell. Gparted wont access it at all. The replacement card was working but has failed after half an hour. I need to check it tomorrow but I think my firebee may be eating cf cards or I’m just having bad luck. There is a program on the PC that works for me called Min...

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

Ok, I see now. I went to the P&E website and saw the hardware. They connect to the PC via USB and have various ports to connect to a target device. I saw they offered 3 levels of hardware. Which one do you have? None of those that are still available. I think they called it "Cable CF"...

Re: Bad Flash on my Firebee

Check this link for TBLCF device: https://community.nxp.com/thread/17542 I think Marcus can tell better if this would flash FireBee. It should. The M68HC08 used might be hard to come by already, however. Marked obsolete at many vendors if I remember right. Oh, I see. Then the JTAG cable would only ...
