Re: Snow Bros on atari ST

I do hope he hasn't suffered a similar fate to that of the likes of 7800 Paperboy coder Andrew H. As soon as he mentions there's a slight possiblty of code perhaps still being on a disk somewhere, he is bombarded by people demanding he find and share it. Not everyone is as respectful as you good fol...

Re: Never Ported respectively released for ST

Another update: Super Thief was started by Palace and by all accounts was pretty well advanced (and good) when it was shelved. I am not sure of the programmer (Possibly Sean Griffith from Magic Pockets/ Rise of the Robots fame, but don't quote me on that) but the graphics were done by Dan Malone (Wh...

Re: Never Ported respectively released for ST

Remember seeing a claim that suggested Interceptor (E.A) never made it to ST as coder found it rather ironic that the very people who'd bought the ST as it was cheaper than the Amiga, had killed it by pirating it's software...

Re: Atari ST hardware based coin-ops

Thread bump...

Hmmn....

I discovered a claim that there were at least 2 Prototype ST coin ops being shown by Steve Bak..1 running Leatherneck and the other Xenon, intended to power Mastertronic 's Arcadia cabinets, but the Amiga hardware was far better suited so used instead.

Just a brief update.

It was (Ex-Tiertex ) Paul Gill that very kindly passed onto GTW the info that Strider II had been Green Lit for the Panther console.

Re: Wolfchild for the ST, a disaster

Reading an old interview with Simon (passed onto Atarimania and Core Design Website), he talks of all his development work being done on a Mega ST running OCP's Art Studio... How the original design sketches for the main sprite in Wolfchild had a much more metallic look at had spiky armour, but that...

Re: Wolfchild for the ST, a disaster

A dissapointment more than a disaster, but given the commercial state of the ST games market at that time, hardly surprising. An STE version wouldn't of made commercial sense, ST conversion probably warranted in terms of if it's done enough folks will buy it, but don't tie people up for too long, we...

Litil Divil ST And Jaguar And What Became Of Both

https://youtu.be/gRI4_OOK5UY Litil Divil had been up there with ST Chuck Rock II as having press annoucement's that it was headed to the ST and later the Jaguar, but didn't appear on either and i had seen the Jaguar version as listed as FINISHED on Atari Age a few years back. I had read an interview...

Supposedly 50+ done by time one of the coders left..no A.I, place holder graphics etc.

I had the C64 version, looked lovely, but played like an utter dog.

Still, another for the list.

Re: ROBOCOP 2. Amiga or ST?

As a huge Robocop (Film and Coin-Op) fan, i found the Home games a very mixed bag. The Original Robocop was superb on a 128K ZX Spectrum, C64 version looked nice, but bugged, not found a console version i like. With Robocop II...the coin-op i found to be awful. The Amstrad GX4000 and Amiga versions ...

So, i purchased a back issue of RetroGamer Magazine, issue 173...Chuck Rock feature. Bob states it was probably NEVER in production in the 1st place, resources being better spent...

Re: Gauntlet II vs Ranarama (ST) - Which Is Best?

Ranarama was a superb port from the 8 bit systems and indeed one of the better Gauntlet clones out there..i loved it on C64 and later ST.

But Gauntlet II was the better game and the ST version, whilst far from perfect, i personally got far more out of...

So Gauntlet II FTW.

It shouldn't really matter that this is an Atari Forum. Shadow Of The Beast was written as a technical showcase for the Amiga hardware and even it's creators themselves openly admit there wasn't much of a game in there. Converting it to the ST was always going to result in comprises being made, just...
