let's also not forget cores are open source. there is always the possibility of somebody continuing work later on.

each core is its own project after all. But If I'm not mistaken the AGA core is already very compatible no?

RETRO.HK 2017 - August 10th to August 13th, HONG KONG

retrohk_final_logo-web-1.png If anybody is in the area, this is worth checking out! There will be several Atari consoles on display (both showcase and free play)! I will be attending so feel free to PM me if you're able to make it. -- Retro.HK is Hong Kong's annual retro gaming event, which kicked ...

I think the MIDI ports are just a daughterboard.

Right. So they combined it to avoid to have to manifacture it, maybe?

maybe leave it running and check how long it takes (roughly) to drain 1/2 the battery. should give an idea on how much you'd need

I forgot the exact number but power consumption is quite low. I have used my MiST with a 10K mAh powerbank before without issues.

Re: Can De1 core be ported to mist Coco 3

I suppose you could ask the author if he can make it work with SDRAM instead. Could it be ported to MiSTer using block RAM instead of SRAM? Doesn't help OP, but would be interesting to know it's possible. There are other cores relying on SRAM that are hard to port to MiST (e.g. PC/XT and arcade Bagm...

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

Just to add, perhaps what is confusing is that each core is really an independent project. And if it has only one author and he stops working on it, you need to wait until somebody else picks it up. I'm also wondering how incomplete the ST core really is? I mean sure some demos do not work but if mo...

Because using real carts in realtime has a different feeling to it. :)

I guess instead the Genesis could take real carts through a GPIO adapter, which would.probably be better (no dumping time).

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Dynamic switch between SD and USB is not supported. What is Retrode and how device switch affects it? It's a USB cart dumper and controller adapter sold by Dragonbox.de . The dumper presents itself as USB storage with a ROM file and the save files (that it extracts from the inserted cart). It suppo...

For those that want to help but have no knowledge of HDL, I can suggest testing and documenting the results. I've tried every single ROM for NES that I have so I can now tell to any interested developer which games to look at, or which features would need to be added: https://docs.google.com/spreads...

Look at all those kickstarters that successfully raised money and then... went nowhere. There's a big share of disasters out there. Re: MiST - FPGA ST

What we need is more developers and people willing to learn. Unfortunately to go from learning HDL to write a core is quite a leap (except maybe if you have EE experience to rely on). There are other ways to help, though. One bottleneck is undocumented features. When game X or demo Y doesn't work it...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

I got my board! Not much time to play with it yet, other than the little web server it has. It's neat to play with the LEDs from a browser. I would say it's very tiny and I'm worried about breaking a connector. It would benefit from a nice case and hiding all direct plugs (e.g. external HDMI connect...

The problem is not so much this core but the fact that nobody else is interested in following up. At least its open source and future enhancements are possible by somebody else.

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Is the arduino connector independent from the GPIO? If so... that might be a convenient place to put a small LCD 320x240 screen and make a portable system :) Here's a small recap of where things could go, from what has been mentioned so far (click for larger version):

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

It's always possible to have different daughterboards for different purposes, although it could get messy to make cores recognize one versus the other. Perhaps four pins can be sacrificed to give a 4-bit identification number, so the cores can automatically know what is plugged? But It's possible t...
