Re: Joystick testing thread

I will try deleting the config and see if that works. If it doesn't, then you can PM me your address and I can send you a set of these INEXT controllers.

Re: Joystick testing thread

I tried power and unpowered, same results. Like I said, the menu works perfectly. You can go to the joystick setup and it recognizes ALL of the buttons, including UP. NONE of the cores (arcade, console, computer) recognize the UP button when you do the joystick setup from within the core. The INEXT ...

Re: SDRAM board

Are there extra pins available on the bus that we could use to enable/tri-state a buffer chips so that the RAMs could be isolated and share the bus?

Re: Joystick testing thread

Yep! I have a PS3 looking controller from China that works perfectly. It's just these INEXT controllers that don't work with any of the cores, except the menu.rpf.

Re: SDRAM board

So, should a 512KB or 2MB SRAM board (like the SDRAM board) be something that should be produced?

Re: Joystick testing thread

Any idea why the menu joystick setup works fine with these INEXT joysticks, and none of the arcade machines, consoles, or computers cores' joystick setups do?

Re: SDRAM board

The Amiga's CHIP RAM max speed is limited to the color burst clock (3.579545MHz for NTSC). This is one of the things that you really can't change or you will break compatibility. Many game programs rely on the fact that CHIP RAM and the E_Clock speeds are exact.

Re: SDRAM board

Ha! What SRAM is 10ns? Why do you actually need SRAM vs. SDRAM? Cost is no object if there is a valid reason!

Re: SDRAM board

SRAM is fairly expensive for $$$ vs RAM size - about $4.00 per 512K. I use products already with 512K SRAM, so I have these readily available. SRAM is nice because there is no refresh, but they are kind of slow (45ns typical speeds). What advantage would there be to having SRAM?

Re: Joystick testing thread

Ok, so I tested several consoles and NONE of them detect the UP button. The only thing that actually does detect the UP button during the "Joystick Setup" in the OSD is the manu menu itself.

I am not a fan of these systems, so I have not setup these emulations. I will do that and let you know the results.

Re: SDRAM board

You didn't even start to create but already want guarantees of success. Hardware design is what I have done for decades. I have created more than 300 commercial products (millions of circuit boards), spanning many different industries and I have a long history (1979 to present) in the Commodore/Ami...

Re: SDRAM board

If you can use the 64MB chip in place of the 32MB chip, does that mean that the upper address bit (upper/lower 32MB) is already there and usable? Some your posts makes me think that you are out of discussion topic. Don't you know how SDR SDRAM address pins are organized? You are going to add more c...

Re: SDRAM board

Just start to do what you "offer" and we will see what we can get in the final. If it will fit the MiSTer philosophy then it will me merged into. If not, then you are free to make a fork. It's possible to have a special Amiga fork with extra/special HW and improved Minimig if you are read...

Re: Joystick testing thread

After further review, EVERY arcade core has this same problem. The menu sees the INEXT controller and config works fine (UP button is detected, and it moves up the list when selecting a core, so it really does work). However, the UP button is not recognized in any of the arcade cores. If you do the ...

Re: SDRAM board

You can download the source for the various Replay cores from the svn. I worked on the Amiga driver for the Replay's RTG (Amiga core), so what do you need to know? The RTG driver allocates a 64K aligned 4MB block of memory (from the memory pool) during the driver initialization by Picasso96. The mem...

The DE-10 is capable of running the Vampire core, with tons of room to spare. You are looking at what is available today for MIST (and MiSTer), not what people are actually working on in the FPGA world. Adding RTG to the Minmig is certainly possibly the Replay core is open source, and I know the guy...

The A1200 was a poor selling computer in the U.S. compared to the A2000, A3000, and A4000. Ray tracing, desktop publishing, graphics design, hard drive backup, hard drive optimization, and a slew of other programs can use more than the 24MB FAST RAM limit of the current Minimig core (due to the avai...

Re: SDRAM board

32MB is not enough memory for an Amiga core. My real Amigas have 64MB or more. There is no reason to add more memory to Minimig in its current state. Minimig requires faster CPU and RTG to utilize more memory. Even in current state on Minimig, it's possible to use DDR3 as FastRAM which can give you...

32MB is not enough memory for an Amiga core. My real Amigas have 64MB or more.

Why would the memory speed be restricted by increasing the amount memory (because of the new upper two address lines)?

Re: SDRAM board

If I wanted to make a SDRAM board with 128MB (32MB x 4), can you support it for the cores? This would require 4 extra pins on for the addressing. Could those be next to the 3 existing extra pins that plug into the Arduino header?

OK, I have found the issue with the INEXT controller not working... it's the Pacman core! I didn't realize that the main menu had an option to setup the joystick. I started with 100 SDRAM and RTC boards. I am waiting on more connectors for the SDRAM boards, so those will go first from the batch I have already built (10). I am not making assembled IO boards. Re: Joystick testing thread

I *always* get 127 when the DPAD is released after pressing it any direction. However, the axis will be either 0 or 1 along with 127, depending on what last axis was. It can go from 255 to 0 without the middle (127) appearing. However, none of the cores recognize 127 to 0 (for up), but always recogn...
