Re: Common mistakes in Atari ST SW, bad practices

You should avoid using Line-A calls, as they are not compatible with clones and never CPUs. Not to mention, that they're completely multitasking unfriendly.

Re: Bad Apple by Fenarinarsa (Atari STe demo) !!!!!

Thanks fenarinarsa, from the moment I got my hands on your prod, I wanted to ask 'how you did it' :)

I like your prod a lot. I have one question: it seems that yo're not using whole screen, how much does that save?

As for the future: more please :)

I'm no expert in MBR partitions, but I think that you do not need to describe all partitions in MBR partition table. Write only description for the one you want...

Re: Hard disk driver update plan

I think that the better way is to do byteswaping in hardware - just by modifying the cable, or by simple interface,

With ACSI devices on ST (Satan, UltraSatan, Cosmosex) there is no need for byteswaping.

Gryzor, there is very limited information in your post on what is wrong with The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People and Atari, Inc: Business is Fun. Could you please enumerate any serious mistakes you found in those books?

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

BTW i still don't understand that effort to compile into elf objects only to have to use a separate tool to create working executables. Using ELF objects, you can harness the link time optimisation feature (-flto) which should help optimise large projects and C++ compiles in particular. This is not...

Re: The Falcon's confusing history

And, just to clarify that: GEM is only two components: the AES and the VDI. That is not 100% accurate. GDOS is also part of GEM, it just did not fit ROM, so it was dropped from ROM TOS. GDOS is just the part of VDI that didn't fit into the ROMs. Yes, it is also a valid classification, but this stil...

Yes, if you call that browsking. You might also try Links or Elinks, which are more advanced than Lynx, and still text based.

2) There is no way to check how much RAM there is just by TOS.
