Re: Surviving STs

[quote="Atari030"]I just gave away my classic Mac, to a mate. We just moved and I found a couple more A500's I didn't know I had. They are as prolific as rabbits. I guess cause no one wants them. :-)

I've been after one... will take one off your hands if you've run out of space now ;)

Re: Very first computer

Atari 800 (first one in my bedroom at any rate). First computer that was "mine" was an SX25 with 4MB of RAM and an 80MB HDD. I remember that being HUGE after using the Supradrive on the ST.

To be fair, Atari030 does have some things I'd generally file under "unobtainium" ;)

Uhhh, it got completely stalled because I started trying to build my own 68k computer on a breadboard! I am planning to pull my thumb out though, so hopefully it'll see some progress in the next month or two.

Re: [A]tari [G]ame [T]ools - 2D prototyping engine for STE

I've been meaning to post about this for ages, but I've started working on a platformer using AGT. Stalled a little recently but will try and get back into it over the next couple of weeks. It's going to be called Dave the Dragon :) Here's an out of date screenshot, might post a quick test build at ...

Re: Trionoids - Columns Clone for the Falcon - RELEASED!

Nice one, I'll have a play sometime. What's this line for?

move.w #$FFFE,$ffff9202 ;Select group 4 of Joypad A

Seems a little odd to write some values there before reading, what's in those lower bits?

Re: Trionoids - Columns Clone for the Falcon - RELEASED!

I just had the chance to test Trionoids. For the good parts, I really liked the graphics and the motion. On the bad part I'd say I'd prefer a different control scheme. So think about it for the next game. Jagpad support would also be nice. In short, I really liked it even though the control scheme ...

Re: Why so hard to de-solder some parts?

I was chatting with Atari030 about how hard and tedious it was to desolder the Falcon NVRAM chips earlier today! Big shout out to him for inviting me to his place and upgrading my STE to a 4MB monster for me :)

I'm finding 2.0 to be noticeably slower (official windows binary)... anyone else seen that? Got it configured as an STE, and even mouse movement in GEM isn't as smooth as it was with 1.9.

Good to see you're up and running! Once you get more comfortable with C you should check out dml's AGT: https://bitbucket.org/d_m_l/agtools

It's a toolkit for building games on the STE :)

Not enough memory then. Ah nuts. This is a 1MB machine. For some reason I figured that was a go! Time to source an upgrade methinks! LMK if you need RAM, I have boxes full of 1mb simms somewhere. That'd be great if you do have them! Can drive/ride to pick them up. How much would you want for some?

The program doesn't even start... the I see the GEM window Maximise animation (I think) and a white screen for a split second, then I'm just back at the desktop!

Re: uip-tool

I've had no issues with this on my Falcon and find it to be a great tool, however with my STE it doesn't seem to do anything. Tried both of the available binaries with the same result from both. Is there a minimum TOS version, or is my STE maybe not detecting the NetUSBee properly? I don't know what...

I've been working on a simple 'move a sprite around a map' demo that will hopefully make for some useful reading. Need to strip it down a little more still!
