Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

You mean show me some pictures? I don't have any, but take a look at spiny's picture earlier in this thread. See the variation in bezel thickness? It's a nice picture but it proves nothing in regard to the first post in this topic unless he turns them all over and lines up the mounting holes (as th...

Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

I finally had some time to take a closer look at my stash of drives last night. You are both right. I have Atari drives (both from STE's btw) that looks like the one in Silly_Pony's picture, where the bezel ("poking through-bit" excluded) has the same thickness as the typical PC drive. In...

Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

Haha you just put two drives on the table and took a photo. Wow genius of the year here. Look where the mounting holes are. Line them up using that. Then try again. Lo-and-behold the ST bezel will extend further out. https://i.postimg.cc/CK6t0cv4/IMG-20190313-053408.jpg If you don't line up mountin...

Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

You need to flip the drives over and align the screw holes on both before you compare the length You also think I'm doing unnecessary work? If both disk drives were exactly the same, everything would be as easy as removing the metallic coating and the Atari front panel and attaching it to the PC di...

Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

I don't think your diagram is accurate. You show PC floppy drive as being longer, but that isn't true. ST drive is longer because of it's faceplate sticks out through the case hole. In your photo we see PC drive faceplate is flat and stays totally within the atari case using same screw location. Yo...

Datel Trackmaster info needed

From a recent ebay purchase I appear to have acquired a Datel Trackmaster, wondered if anyone has experience using one? Also if anyone knows if this needs an external power supply, if yes what voltage it may be? Original thread here http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=34762

Here's some pictures of the internals, looks like it was professionally made as the soldering looks too good to be homebrew, also the case is not hand made either. 2018-11-17-09.00.51-compressor (Copy).jpg 2018-11-17-09.00.58-compressor (Copy).jpg 2018-11-17-09.01.13-compressor (Copy).jpg I'm guessi...
