Re: Help Forget Me Clock

Disclaimer: I do not own a Forget Me Clock, so I can't test this. PS: When looking at the Y2K_FIX source code, it seems that it only uses 4 bits for keeping the year. This can only work for year 2000-2015, then. I also don't have the Forget Me Clock, but am using the Y2K_FIX on my STE. I have found...

Re: Redrawing the desktop background in AES

Can you share your complete code? Sure, I've put it on github: https://github.com/smonson78/ataricc/blob/master/app_window.cpp I was just writing a reply, but I see you seem to have found a fix in your assembler code. I hope that resolves the problem. Just for the record, when I run my own example ...

Re: Redrawing the desktop background in AES

I haven't come across this specific problem, and the desktop looks after itself in my own programs. In my code (based on Cmanship), I have the following: void open_vwork (void) { int i; int dum; app_handle = graf_handle (&dum, &dum, &dum, &dum); work_in[0] = 2 + Getrez (); for (i = 1...

Re: 4 bombs - how worried should I be?

I wonder, though, why there are already 0x08bb24 (=more than 512k) bytes of RAM already in use. Did you follow my advice to do "a clean boot from a floppy disk without drivers or AUTO-start programs"? You'd get more accurate testing results if most of the memory is unused. I'll have to tr...

Re: 4 bombs - how worried should I be?

Thanks for the suggestions. Run a RAM Test program and make sure your RAM is OK. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=30110 I have run this test program (no problem starting the STe today). I get the message "Testing low memory from 0x000008 to 0x08bb24: Failed at 0x07ac20"....

4 bombs - how worried should I be?

(This happened a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't have time to explore the problem until this evening.) I turned my STe on this evening and immediately got 4 bombs. On reset, I got 11 bombs and the message "Warning: Bad Rom CRC in Chip E". This happened before the memory test and pause. O...

Re: guide to GEM coding with AHCC

Thanks for all the comments and feedback I have received about my guide. This encouraged me to complete the 'second half', and write out what I know about menus, dialogs, events and the scrap library. The Guide has now been extended and updated, and includes more example programs. In summary, a samp...

Re: OS stack

Thanks everyone for your responses. It seems the situation is not very clear for the VDI part! From the discussion, the picture I get is as follows: 1. FireTOS uses fVDI, as this supports the Firebee video modes. 2. When we install NVDI on top, the situation becomes complex. fVDI retains control ove...

Yes, that was a problem at first, as CManShip uses float in calculating the slider position. That was one of the things I had to rewrite to get code compiling on an STe with AHCC.

Re: guide to GEM coding with AHCC

In open_vwork you must set work_in[2] to 2 + Getret(). ("work_in[10] = 2 + Getrez();") Thanks for the suggestion. It prompted me to look again at the Atari Compendium, and I notice it says for work_in[0]: "For screen devices you should normally use the value Getrez() + 2, however, a ...

OS stack

I realised recently I don't have a clear idea of what is doing what on my Firebee. I was hoping more knowledgeable people might give me some pointers, or correct my misunderstandings. I am typically running the following: 1. I boot into FireTOS 2. This loads FreeMINT and NVDI 3. When FreeMINT starts...

guide to GEM coding with AHCC

I put together some notes to remind myself how my GEM programs are working. Most of this comes from CManShip, and things I learnt working through a lot of my own misunderstandings. I've also been helped along at times by members of this forum. These notes try to put this information together in one ...

I have created a new version of Sokoban, version 1.1.0. The changes include: . Respond to WM_TERM message . Respond to WM_BOTTOMED message . Scale for position is set to last value used (so you don't have to keep changing the scale) . Window size will fit level, if there's room on screen . Warning i...

Re: Sokoban for GEM

Thanks, looks nice! I noticed one bug. Quitting the game works fine under EmuTOS, TOS v2.x and TOS v1.62, but it crashes TOS v1.04. Might happen if you e.g. do some AES/VDI operation(s) after closing AES/VDI. Thanks for the report, and the extensive testing. It may be an uninitialised pointer being...

Scale option would work globally. Now every time when I open a new level I have to change it to Large. And last point, a new window could be fit to the Sokoban level Thanks, I'll think about those. Nice! Just tested it on my STE, it works really well. I also like the fact that you have developed it *on* an Atari, not just *for* it :) Thanks for the feedback. My STE is refusing to work at the moment, so I couldn't try it on the 'real thing'. And yes, developing *on* an Atari is the enjoyable p...

Sokoban for GEM

With some help from this forum, I've finally finished my GEM version of Sokoban. The screen shot shows the program working under MINT+XaAES on a Firebee, but has also been tested in low and high resolution on an Hatari-emulated ST, and an Hatari-emulated Falcon. Features: - Contains the 50 classic l...

I removed all references to float and now the library should be more portable. I've tested the example program on a Hatari-emulated ST and Falcon.
Here it is in high resolution.

AHCC builds contain *4* versions of the standard library: - ahccstdf.lib (Firebee/ColdFire) - ahccstd.lib (680x0 + FPU) - ahccstdi.lib (68000 with floating point support missing from printf/scanf) - ahccstfi.lib (Firebee/ColdFile without FPU, may be compatible with Falcon) (Hopefully Henk notices t...

Re: updating a background window in GEM

You'll need to pass app_id (the AES application id) in msg[1] instead. Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried it, with a few variations, but still am not receiving the redraw message. It's not necessary to send WM_REDRAW to you own application. You can just call the redraw function directly with a...

Re: updating a background window in GEM

The docs seem to state byte length of message. Looks like you put word length. Maybe that fix it? Try: appl_write (app_id, 16, msg); Thanks for taking a look. I have tried that as well. I tried short/int as the type, and 0, 8, 16 for the size. nothing triggers the update. [in my bibfind program, wh...
