Re: Falcon & Games

I don't see anything out of ordinary -- setting up the sound system, switching the cache off, setting up the Blitter and CPU to 8 MHz, installing its own exception vectors. The only interesting thing would be to know how exactly he is reconfiguring the PMMU and why. He's just moving the PMMU table ...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Wow, I'm not sure this is the responsability of AT2 to manage such cases... IMO that's always the can o' worms anyone is opening when trying to use a different platform and tools. IMO yes it's the exporter's responsibility to handle all export problems. But hey, this is your show here - if you thin...

Bump!

Anyone got part numbers for all the caps Daniel listed so I can order a couple? Or does anyone supply them as a pack?

Re: Need idea to do something faster

am i completely wrong when i saying, that you get the value as a CHR (string) and not a value form 0-9? Yes, that is correct! You get a string of ascii characters, ready to print. I guess it's possible to convert to 0-9 values if you change the '0' constants loaded to 0 (and probably a few o...

Here's a small gem I unearthed from Turbo Assembler's source some years ago: ************************************************************************ * Dezimal-Zahl in D1 ausgeben * * Anzahl der Stellen in D4 * ************************************************************************ dezw_out: movem....

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

the dc statements width Huh, what is that? Do you need another option in the source generator? Honestly I haven't taken a detailed look at this as the support for events has been submitted to me but from what I can see: * All values need to be exported as words * All loop addresses need to be expor...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Hey, great job. About the song events, I guess you used the "songToEvent" CLI tool or "export event" from within the software? We used the cli tool and then some find-and-replace to convert the dc statements width. This is bundled inside a script that also exports the .aks files...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Hello, just dropping by to give an update on the player. So, since last time I posted the player: ⋅  supports song events, i.e. special codes the musician can add to the tune and picked up from the code ⋅  supports SID song events, so you can turn SID channels on and off using ev...

Nice project!

Since this resonates a bit with what I've recently done, perhaps you could use Arkos tracker 2 for the YM part?

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Cool, only twice slower than raw YM and much, much much, more memory-efficient! Do you consider your player finished? If possible, I'd like a version to be integrated to the Arkos Tracker 2 package. Do you think it is a good idea, or do you prefer only having a repository? I like somehow having the...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

I just managed to do some measurements using gwEm's CPU measurer (is that even a word? anyway). Hatari profiler can measure an exact amount of cycles for you, for any part of your code. Probably easiest way to do that is adding symbol for start and end of the part of code you want to measure before...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

I just managed to do some measurements using gwEm's CPU measurer (is that even a word? anyway). The optimised player now averages on less than 2 scanlines, peak is at about 2.5 (at least with the test tunes I tried). As for SID voices: http://d-bug.mooo.com/various/sid_cpu.png (doesn't mean much as ...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Thanks for your kind words :). For the rest, the demo is now live at http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=76112 As for vocals: it really was a 20 minute hack at the party, Grazey supplied me the code he used for hipsid and I simply piggybanked it to the player. Personally I won't even dare to ask you...

Good stuff Targhan! And hello from me everyone here at Outline 2018! Since we finished our entries for the party we thought we (me and Grazey) could have a crack at adding SID voices to the replay routine. Guess what - it worked :) Here's a sneak preview, the source will be cleaned up and uploaded a...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

Out of curiosity - does this run on TOS/MiNT? To be honest I've never even tried compiling it for MiNT target. The only way I'd attempt something like this would be via aranym or if you use mikro's bootstrapping stuff. IIRC that's building a host cross compiler and then use that to compiling for Mi...

Looks like gcc 8.1 was released a couple of days ago, so we added that to our build script and tried it out - worked without a hitch! http://brownbot.hopto.org/ is also updated with the latest gcc, so enjoy! (edit: well I jinxed it - the server went down shortly after I announced this - it'll be bac...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Just a small update here: The player now has been optimised quite a bit, and there's a way to create .sndh files directly. I am working on streamlining tune export with Targhan a bit, hopefully pretty soon it'll be easier. But as it is right now there are instructions on the repository and it is pos...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Okay, I spent some more time on the player - it now actually plays something that resembles music :). I'll need to do a more careful listen of the original and compare it with what's played, or make a specific tune so I can compare differences easier. Anyway, progress! (github/bitbucket updated, any...

A small update here: now the player can init and play a song, it even outputs things to the ym! However it's still doing something wrong and loops early (after playing about 2-3 notes?) but hey - progress! If targhan is still reading this, I have a couple of small requests for the exporter: a) In ce...
