Re: Midex Falcon

as far as I can remember the modified mixex+ units (mine at least) could only work with cubase 3 and not with the audio version. Have you succeed in using it with CAF?

Mega ST4 bad ram chip identification

Hi all, can you help me to identify a bad RAM chip on my Mega ST4? Ramtest.TOS gives me errors from 115801H up to 1159FFH, and the Marpet ram tester gives me fail at 1136640, on the 02 row (00 to 15 rows-16 total). Does these numbers indicate which RAM chip(s) failed? Thanks for any help.

Re: Help: Mega ST is dying

Yes it is the Q9 but keep in mind Simbo that the transistor failed because of the marpet board position that pushed it too much and almost broke its legs, so it is not to be considered as a common fault for your database.

Re: Help: Mega ST is dying

Finally the Mega is back and alive. It was the 2N3904 above the video shifter ic that caused the errors, I replaced it and everything is ok. For the history, probably the damage caused by an adapter board plugged on the shifter ic (marpet xtra ram) that was pushing the poor thing very hard. Thank yo...

Re: Help: Mega ST is dying

First freeze comes with 2 bombs most of the times followed by black screen, immediate reset after that and what I get is full line of bombs. This is the most frequent turn of events, but I've seen 4 bombs on some occasions too. I'll replace the u2 7407 and the mfp 68901 as Simbo suggests on Monday a...

Yes, plain TOS with a fresh formatted disk in the drive to avoid the long boot delay.

Help: Mega ST is dying

After stored at least 10 years in the attic, I realized that I need to have my Mega ST1 back to my home studio to serve as a dedicated synthesizers editor computer. The first boot was successful, but after 10-15 minutes it froze displaying bombs. And this is what happens every time after boot, if th...
