Re: Looking for YM Format FULL documentation

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for all the details, this is the sort of things I'm looking for. I found that Gwem's tutorials about maxymizer were also invaluable in understanding all those advanced effects. Lately I realized that if I want to drive the YM "perfectly", merely streamin...

Re: Looking for YM Format FULL documentation

The YM format is known for not capturing sampled data correctly as it samples the registers at 50Hz, too slow for true digi sample replay. Otherwise IMHO these are the most complrte descriptions I have seen sofar, esp. the one by skeezix. I doubt there are documents going even deeper. If you find t...

Re: Looking for YM Format FULL documentation

Thank you guys. Right after I posted this, I found the source code for StSound. That's as good as it gets I'm afraid. God, I hate C++ so much (and I'm writing js code these days) :( re: YM format limitations, I'm aware of them but like many hackers on the internet I just take the easy road. The time...

Looking for YM Format FULL documentation

Hi, I'm late to the "drive an YM with an arduino" party, but I'm having a lot of fun right now. I got the basics working (playing an ym file), but now I would like to improve the sound quality and special effects support. My plan is to make full use of the arduino hardware, esp. the 3 prog...

Re: Problem with Repository?

Most new cores are hosted in their respective author repositories. mist-devel only has the Till cores + others historically maintained there.
Which one were you looking for?

Re: Jupiter Ace arrives at MiST

I've started my first steps with the mist and learned how to port stuff. I was so happy that the cores even run and later did my first own addition with the Apple II soundcard (even though it works more or less). That said I'm far from looking at time constraints or gated clocks because its far ahe...

Re: NES core on MiST

It turns out that this game was made available for free by the copyright holder. So no need for precautions here :)
Here's the ROM I am using and it's working fine for me with the latest NES core: http://yolkfolk.com/flash/wldfinal.nes

Let me know what problems you have.

Has anybody got any idea why wonder land dizzy dosnt work? Or how to fix it? I'll have a look. If you have the rom and linux, could you please dump the header with the command "hexdump -C -n16 YOUR_ROM.NES" ? If not, just tell me where to get it. I believe a direct link is not allowed but...

Re: NES core on MiST

Gradius II uses Mapper 25 aka Konami VRC4. Looks like this mapper is not supported by the MiST. That's what the official Gradius II cartridge does, but I suspect this is not the probem here. The only ROM dump I can find for Gradius II uses mapper 4 (which we support) but has a trainer (which we don...

NAOS Punish your machine screen

Hello, here are the sources for the NAOS punish your machine screen (without the intro part, sorry). There are bits and pieces of GFA to generate data files, a test program for the starfield projection routine and the whole screen. Note that the ICC_2.S misses key context initialization and as such ...

Re: NES core on MiST

I think on these old monitor you have a setting to manually adjust the position and size of the image. I'm not surprised that it doesn't match the amiga core alignment by the way: all cores have slightly different clocks.

Re: MiST Hardware Revisions? MSX-Core-Problem

Might just be an unstable core. From my experience the smallest glitch in certain clock signals can make the core startup completely random. I would not be surprised if the NES core never booted on a certain number of MiST for example but I can't prove it and I also don't know if I fixed it :) The R...

Re: NES core on MiST

Not really, but I still have a couple of months to work on the mist nearly full time, so in order to not get burnt out I switch tasks every now and then. Here's a list of things I work on: - NES core: Persisted RAM. Status: I tried and it doesn't work. I'll try again eventually. - YMSoC core: A core...

However, I couldn't get these two cores (15kHz support according to the list) running on my old TV:
Aquarius
Videopac

Aquarius does not support 15KHz.

The LED signal could be sacrificed ? Or you could use an external shift register, like this one: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13699

Re: JT51 Released

2 questions:
- What clock frequency should I use ? As high as possible ?
- Do you emulate accurately the behavior of the (B)usy bit, i.e. does a register write really take up to 68 clocks ? (cf. page 7 of http://www.figment.biz/ServiceManuals/ym2151synthesis.pdf)

Re: Colecovision core issues

These are not official games and the Colecovision did not support cartridges >32KB apparently. So I would not call that a "core issue" but rather a "feature request". I had a quick look just in case it was a trivial patch but the core does not use the SDRAM at the moment so it's ...

Re: [New Core] TRS-80 Model I

Maybe (hopefully) Sorgelig or Til can give you a hand with the tape loading .. I am not even sure how its done in the other cores. I'm looking at the zx81 and what I see looks more like memory injection than actual tape loading, but that would be sufficient I guess. There are no cores where you can...

That's awesome. I know nothing about that chip. Are there any tracker file format (like .ym for the 2149)?
Do you think it would be difficult to add it to a 8 bit core to test it?
