Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

4) maybe have an order inside property also to make sure of the file order to read? <group> <part name="file0" width="16" endian="big" order="1"/> <part name="file1" width="16" endian="big" order="2"/> </group> I think ...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

I don't come in a couple of days and what do I find? By popular demand of slingshot, here's the same sh*t in C: https://github.com/sebdel/mra-tools-c/ A C version. Great! C or C++ are my preferred option for this. I think users need executables files, both in linux and windows. I tried onc...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

Could you tell me the name of the MRA when you test things? For this particular case you can try the branch full_mra_parser. It should behave differently in this regard and it also supports "select parts by crc" although I couldn't test that. I've just experimented with an MRA created by ...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

One thing would be good: sometimes it's convenient to re-use the same part more than one time (e.g. address space mirroring, or just to have a placeholder). Now if one part is listed more than once, the tool complains that it cannot be found. Could you tell me the name of the MRA when you test thin...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

I just checked the Arcade cores thread on mister forum and this is way more complicated than I thought it would.
I'll implement the full thing but as of right now, we only support the "1 zip to 1 ROM" use case.

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

By popular demand of slingshot, here's the same sh*t in C: https://github.com/sebdel/mra-tools-c/ Only the md5 check is missing, plus some command line options, but it should work. This one is neat, tried it, works well. Maybe a configurable directory for MAME .zips would make it even more easy to ...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

The binary download gives me an error. But just a thought: the parser should be already implemented in the MiSTer firmware. How about now? I'll look into how they do it. Who in their right mind feeds xml to a low end device though. They're using sxmlc and there's certainly a lot of code to copy fro...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

I have nothing against it, if it's really cross-platform, and I don't have to install half of the internet to make it work :) And I agree, libs are the way to go instead of forking external apps. I added a link to download a pre-built executable here: https://github.com/sebdel/mra-tools (>50MB :o) ...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

It's good to have a helping hand in this, and thank you, but I have a concern about node.js is a really good choice as a requirement for an end-user tool. No problem with that for prototyping. (actually I wonder about what script language is OK for both in Windows and Linux). Actually, nodejs is on...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

Everytime I say I will do something, I end up dropping the ball because my life is hectic, but that's the kind of thing I can do on my work time. So as long as you don't mind nodejs I could do something I guess. Here's a start: a super basic tool to dump the rom part of the file to json . Could you...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

It should take the MRA file and the .zip given in that, and should produce one or more .ROM file(s) (basically concatenated pieces from the part name attribute). Example: https://github.com/alanswx/MraExamples/blob/master/arcade/_newarcade/Jin.mra It should take jin.zip, and produce a jin.rom file ...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

MRA file format is becoming popular on MiSTer as a way to specify ROM loading into the FPGA core. The format is increasingly supporting more file operations making it easier for the core developer. MiST and other platforms do not have the horse power to do the conversion in real time inside their s...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

R-Type Deluxe. A rare case of the old ST core being more compatible. I've introduced a bug in MFP, because I used a buggy datasheet (heh, wrong datasheets are floating around). @sebdel but you don't have to debug your music disk, I found the issue (should I say it was in MFP?) That's great news and...

FYI, another one is waiting for you in France  . Finished the house renewing? :) Yep, took me long enough but totally worth it. I bought a new 32" monitor to celebrate. It does PiP with the vga input, super convenient 8) Talking about convenience, my Mist is on the operating table, I'm...

(Quick edit: I don't see any recent commits to your repo, so am I correct in assuming you've not pushed these changes yet?) Not yet, there are some other surprises waiting. I'm afraid I'm too far away for some beer from Texas - but would be good, thanks :) FYI, another one is waiting for you in Fra...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

stop: move.w $700, $8240.w bra stop I should find where it loops eventually. Clever trick. Just a quick update on this: I progressed far enough that I could see weird usage of trace vector but then I had to pack my Mist as we are renovating the house. So no more mist for me until at least Xmas I re...

Font update

Did you guys just changed the default font for the forum?
I can take some change but this one is not looking great on linux, it's kind of fuzzy.

No big deal, I thought I would ask since it might not be intentional :)

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

No I'm not, I'm just stepping through it in Hatari and guessing. This is not going anywhere, I will try a different approach. If you want to also check on FPGA, I can send you the .stp file I used last time to watch "breakpoints". But hardware debugging is a very tedious, time-consuming a...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

I don't really understand how that piece of code works, is the mask register moving on its own while it transfers on the MW interface? And what's going on with the SR, do you need to be in supervisor mode when writing to MW but not when reading? $00061176 : 40e7 move sr,-(sp) $00061178 : 46fc 2700 ...

Thanks, that's exactly the kind of patch I thought I might pull off given a couple of weeks of trial and error. I'll try to guess what happens with the music. It's hard to argue with the original machine's behavior :) This demo is clearly not designed for STe - just look at the bottom scroller. And even in emulators, which starts the L...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

You did it once again, thanks for the patch. Why are you only connecting peripheral_reset to the MFP and YM though? From the schematics it seems XRESET is all over the place, starting with the blitter? Do you think is there any demo out there which must reboot and reset the blitter? ACIA, DMA and t...
