Here's another entry: Leatherneck.

Too hard and you can't even fire on the sides like in Ikari Warriors (which is a cool but slow game).

Re: ACIA timings

Time passes... Almost two years later, I can fix/explain this with something else than dubious hacks (see above), so for the record (as there was no discussion here): The transmission time between ACIA and 6301 is as documented in general (7812.5 bauds), but there's about one-bit delay before the fi...

Re: Arkanoid and MIDI

Right, I get the sound now, the trick is that it's rather low compared with soundchip.
This means that if you have MIDI enabled, it interferes with soundchip music and you might think something is wrong in Steem.

Arkanoid and MIDI

Hi Looking at Steem traces, it seems that Arkanoid plays MIDI notes (apparently just 'note on', 'note off' on channel 1) when it also plays music on the soundchip, but I hear nothing on my PC. I can't remember if I did before. Yet, a MIDI program does produce sound on the same setup (Windows 10, usi...

Steven, is the other SCP coming from "Air Sea Supremacy" (compilation) ? http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-st-air-sea-supremacy_24298.html Probably as the file has 'ASS' in it. Could be confusing. No, 2 syncs only are not valid. But that seems a bug in your decoder, I see 3 s...

There was already an SCP dump of Gunship that works in v3.9.2. IP happens at a different place. Re: Gunship problem

Your dump of Gunship is probably good and revealed problems in Steem SSE. :) First is a plain bug, on track 2, ID over IP, I reset a variable I shouldn't. Second on track 73 sector 11 is more mysterious. Is it possible that only 2 special $A1 before a $FE are enough to constitute an address mark? St...

Re: Games that run in 50fps/1 Vbl List

Thx, that's interesting. Didn't see that of course. :) I'm not very good at reading ST programs unfortunately. It's more involved than the work of "protection lamers" (see Was Not Was' intro). With option 'C1', IKBD emu is low level, so it's "all or nothing", no special treatment...

Re: Games that run in 50fps/1 Vbl List

In Steem SSE it works or something random happens: bad display, load fail, crash... It works ok for me, booted a handful times without problems. Did you try a recent Pasti dll? Which configuration doesn't work? Using the last pasti.dll, of course, but I think now it's an ACIA/6301 problem appearing...

Re: Games that run in 50fps/1 Vbl List

Star Ray is 2VBL.
The Automation crack of Warp seems to work every time in Steem 3.9.3beta, so maybe the STX dump is trouble, or Steem still has trouble with the protection.

Re: Games that run in 50fps/1 Vbl List

Frame rate is very easy to check in Steem: when it is stopped and you right-click once on the play button, only one frame will run. (with low Slow Motion speed in options). So I just checked Violator, which seems to run in Steem (see above), and it's not real 1VBL. EDIT Warp is 1vbl, but it rarely w...

Re: Wipe Out

The Replicants version is very special, looks like 2 sides, 6 sectors/track in the ST file (bpb). The original (SCP linked here) is single sided, has 6 sectors on tracks (not 0), but they are 512, 1024... It's a miracle the ST image works, normally it shouldn't, unless crackers changed the format so...

It's funny that you made a STT image, I thought it was obsolete, even considered removing STT handling from Steem!

Steem v3.9.3 should be released soon, probably in September, mainly with bugfixes (Gianna STE, Rogue...), and an effective antialias filter for YM2149 emulation. Star Trek begins to sound OK even at 44.1khz! :) Features talked about in other threads such as 'Freeboot', 'Hardware Overscan' and the 'A...

Another advantage of one build with a switch: only one manual, one release blurb, etc.
Since we listen to the "customers", you may vote on what is "advanced".
For example, fast drive? (Guess not, but it reduces compatibility)
Some Fullscreen options?

Re: Steem LE

I can see how popular a switch is compared with different builds... didn't know that.
Guess you wouldn't like my other idea of separate builds for STF and STE then.
The problem with a build that handles all is that it gets fat.

Re: Steem LE

When 'advanced' isn't checked, all 'advanced' options are reset to default. So if you change things in 'advanced' mode, you must stay in this mode or changes will be reverted.
The option is saved in your ini file. You can save configuration files.
