Re: Faulty Atari 520STe - black screen

I like my DSLogic LA a lot. The Scope is a bit low bandwidth but otherwise nice.

Re: Falcon030 Blitter emulation in Hatari

I think you'll get better answers on the Hatari dev mailinglist, but, in general the 68030 emulation is not cycle exact and especially not when interfacing with other components of the system.

Too low res picture to see clearly, but that looks like stuff that should be possible to source.

Re: Faulty Atari 520STe - black screen

No you'll need one for STE. Best is if you can test with someone else's since black screen isn't the typical TOS problem (that's usually a white screen).

Replacing TOS with known good chips is always an easy start. Verify the jumpers are in the correct position for the chips used.

Yeah, sorry, exactly :) I calculated how far into the screen that black area would be and it was substantial.

No time yet, but I think you're right in that a switch to avoid mono hsync will be needed.

Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

(joska tested Closure v1.1 and it was the same. That said, my code could still be crappy ;) I hope I also get the error when I put an HC CPU in my "good DMA" STE)

I believe Leonard also has his own floppy DMA code.

French flag ... or just a one bitplane displacement ;)

This does look like the floppy load issue. joska - I'll get you a link to a v1.1-prerelease image if you want to help me test.

Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

The HC loads the DMA bus differently - that's why it "solves" the bad DMA issue. That could of course also affect the 1772.

The v1.1 image might be interesting to test then, since it is more fault proof regarding floppy loading.

Re: -Closure- tricks

Thanks! You're correct on both accounts. I try (95% successfully) to stabilize (clear) the Shifter at the left border instead of at the right. It was 100% on all my tested STs and STEs (nine) but I have since come to understand that it isn't as successful as the Level 16 stabilizer. The res/freq cha...

Re: Spectrum 512 routine; how does it work?

In short: Synchronize CPU to video pointer, then switch palette as often as you can, making more colours available per scanline (with limitations). I'd recommend MPP or PhotoChrome 6 if you want to play around with this yourself. http://www.leonik.net/dml/sec_pcs.py https://github.com/zerkman/mpp (I...

Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

I had to powercycle to get it to display it correctly. Strange, I have watched this demo a few times on this machine and never seen this before. I don't think it's related to the HC vs TTL CPU issue. That's quite uncommon seeing that Shifter wakeup issue on STE actually. On ST in wakestate 2 it's a...

Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

My MegaSTE currently has a HC CPU. I can test next week, if you like. Or is there a known incompatibility with the MegaSTE in general with the demos mentioned above? I believe {closure} doesn't work on the MSTE. Atleast it didn't a couple of years ago, maybe troed has released a fixed version? Nope...

The bombs after the initial opening texts really does sound like the disk content hasn't been read properly by the bootsector TOS floppy sector read code. Corrupted screen, jerky scrolling. I might be able to diagnose it with just a still frame, or even better a video. (I'm in the US for the week so cannot test myself atm) @ijor Closure is syncing to HBL interrupt. What do you think - E-clock differences? I do analyze the E-clock jitter dynamically i...

did you ever try {closure} with the new CPU? If it doesn't work then I'm sure I can figure out the exact cause rather quickly ...

I've interacted with Leonard in the Atari Museum FB-group. He's somewhat active there and seems happy enough about the retro interest in Atari.
