Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

Ah, yes ... I have a USBDM here in house ... unfortunately, it's for Windows only .... I'm gonna scream, have a fit ... guys, the firebee is drawn with KiCad and requires windows to program ... I'm having a fit, gonna scream ... somebody get a psychiatrist, put me in an assylum ... I'm going nuts. T...

Re: Flashing the Firebee Using a PC

Nice to know, about this multilink board ... the inability to "flash" has always been a gamestopper for me to actually join in. Personally I find the mechanism to flash a wee bit too expensive, and a wee bit too complicated. But with this, I just might go out and look to find one ... espec...

There is a good reason why HW/SW design decitions should be made by engineers, not musicians. <pre-forma> Just to let everyone know, I'm a dick-weed roman, who believes in Janus ... so everything has two sides to me. So don't get too offended, if I kick your butt. </pre-form> The problem of ...

Re: Solution for higher resolutions on STE?

I can't understand why anyone would want a memory mapped graphics engine, where the CPU is used to draw the bloody graphics. In the case of a 68k it certainly doesn't make a heap of sense, really. A GPU, or a Graphics Processing Unit, is most certainly the way to go ... and of course something that ...

Firebee and EmuTOS status ..

Just came accross BeeKey, and BeePi and was a bit fascinated with it. What I noticed, was that this was running in high resolution with EmuTOS as the OS. I'm still running FireTOS as the background OS for my Firebee. But it crossed my mind, that IFF BeeKey can do it, then so should the FireBee, righ...

What about speeds above 16Mhz? Is there anything that would stop one from putting a 25Mhz on the board?

A m68k, in silicon, at a speed grade equivalent with arm/intel? ... it would run circles around intel.

Re: BAD DMA - Myth or fact ?

I've been running a home made hard drive, which is a PIC32, with an USB. It has worked for several years now, without any of the legendary problems. The PIC has it's own powersupply, which I think is noteworthy.

Is there anything new?

So, what is going on in the world of Atari? Any news, any new software ... any new ideas? Maybe a new CPU, new graphics to allow the firebee to render faster ... or perhaps ideas of using an apollo core?

Re: Where are we, and where are we heading?

Now I'm sitting here, looking at fpga4fun, and seeing that hdmi pass through isn't that much of a deal. "Looks" almost as simple as a VGA ... except that the negotiations part isn't here, and the "grabber" must declare it's "image size", to the source. Which will make i...

Re: Where are we, and where are we heading?

"I" am a "jack of all traits, and master of none". So to speak. I have "some" verilog knowledge, and can program in verilog. But, as I said, I'd rather have some "specific" task to do, that wasn't too large. Because if it's large ... the chances are I won't ha...

Where are we, and where are we heading?

Not much news lately, so I'd like to ask some questions about what the plans are. But, to fire up the discussion, I'd like to "shine" my little dim light on some subjects I think are somewhat important. 1. Someone pointed out to me, that to use the Firebee in a real world environment today...

At the moment we are doing tests inside the team with a 3x backplane for about 25 Euros which needs just 3 solderpoints, plus a proper power solution for about 50 Euros. But the only existing PCI driver is the one for the Radeon at the moment. :D great news. finally a fast video. Is there a...

Howto make a tabbed widget in GFA Basic

I want to make a tabbed widget, in GFA ... basically I want to do it this way. One RSC file, with a few forms. One form holds radio buttons for the tab control, and below an empty box of w,y size. Then other forms, holds boxes of same size with the actual data inside it. Now, what I want to do is to...

I don't know about you, but I have a crash screen in my EMUTOS when I start it. Which can be bypassed, by pressing CTRL key at the EMUTOS screen. As it appears to be related to the coldboot program.

At least, that's how it works for me.

I have now experienced problems with NFS, with Atari against Linux 3.16 kernels. The error on the Firebee says it exists, or not authorized. The remote end is authorized for all computers in the same network.

Any ideas?

Re: Firebee fault ? ...

I've had similar experience with my FireBee, so I can confirm this. I haven't run debug, it has been enough for me to reboot it once or twice.

My 2cents worth is, this appears to happen when I haven't started it in quite a while ... just now, it went on in the first try.
