Re: The Falcon's confusing history

Back to the post depicting inaccuracies, too much content there to quote, ill throw in my 2 cents :) Re: ATW. Purchased a card years back from (then unknown to me) a lot sale on eBay by Frank Lucas. A U.K. user in the forums identified the card as one he was missing from an ATW project. It's the dis...

Been some time pass here too, the ATI runs hot. I see paste on the GPU where I placed a heat sink. Unit was in a Wizztronics Rack, coolant flow was not on issue :)

Re: Falcon crashing when moved

Same area on this board. S/N Y43702008816, looks to be in the "meat" of the production run. REV sticker is long gone. Remember (again some time back) the area around the monitor connector mount on the PCB was suspect. The machine seemed touchy like you're describing. Reworked the solder jo...

Purchased Amiga 040 to 060 adapter tested and built by seller. The schematic is same as Milan adapter. Soon will test (soon being relative in Atari world).

Re: UK vs German KB swap

Wish I could remember whom it was sold this really cool keyboard/antenna set-up! Imagine wanting this Falcon bad, and bad it surely is! Thing is, I'd of never known if not for replacing the KB cups. Damn thing actually works. Replacement will take-up the only spare Falcon KB PCB assy I have, but one...

Re: Falcon Nova Adapter ...

There's 4 different RAM in a sentence :) Magnum memory 8mb total. ST RAM address "space" (upper or lower as opposed to 14?) ST RAM memory 4mb RAM only in this case D or V RAM to make pretty pictures bigger :) Maybe memory speed isn't king here, but the NOVA allows the VIDEL to be turned of...

Re: Falcon's 16bit bus myth - 32bit vs 16bit war

Only a 5 year old topic, currently relevant in the Eagle Sonic topic :) So here's the pudding about the Magnum memory speed. What if, hardware gurus, the Eagle Sonic is installed atop the Magnum card? It's nicely designed for a second card. Would that allow full bus memory transfers? Here are the re...

Re: Atari Falcon Eagle add-in module

It'd also be a lot easier if the CAD files for recent hardware weren't so jealously guarded. I could send the CAD files for the CT60e off to China if I had them and there would be so many that the finished units would be worthless on eBay. :) What, and drive up the price on the 68060 even more? ;) ...

Re: Atari Falcon Eagle add-in module

Don't mean to drag this out :) Think mentioned earlier, installation for the Eagle ribbon, and Mighty Sonic differ. Prolly something to do with fast ram. Too, likely far from memory, if the installation also had a "clock" patch installed. This particular install looks to of had one of the ...

UK vs German KB swap

Think I know the answer, can't be too sure.
Am installing a TT Touch kit for Falcon.
Does the keyboard language layout default to NVRAM setting?
Swapping out one circuit board and IC for another is tit for tat?

Have a very interesting photo once done :)

Re: Atari Falcon Eagle add-in module

For now, looks prime for 50mhz testing. Need to fix the AB switch, can pop the Eagle in for giggles. It came with a machine, wasn't really looking to do much, but learn :) Not sure why we do the crazy things we do. First expensive piece of hardware for the Falcon was the Mighty Sonic. Decent card fo...

Re: Atari Falcon Eagle add-in module

Now I remember, the CT2 is 32 bit RAM address, Eaglesonic is still 16 bit. Mightysonic had the fast RAM. I have to say this is one of the most bizarre discussions I have had. If it works, leave it, if it doesn't, it is bloody easy to remove. To complain it breaks compatibility rules out nearly ever...

Re: Modern multisync monitors?

Had a weird blip on a NEC LCD 1970v. Works perfectly in RGB modes for everything. Been testing an Expose video card. When I fired up Apex 2.41 in RGB mode, said the input was out of range in TC Figure it a fine line between 15.7 and 15.5 :) Know Apex does a lot of video tricks. Didn't try to go back...

Re: Falcon Nova Adapter ...

The Nova Falcon work at the moment exclusively with a ATI ISA MACH64 Graphiccard. The Falcon can have only 4MB ST Ram, 14MB do not work. Falcon_Nova_klein.jpg Frank, do you have customer link yet? Don't see them on your normal sales. This one will work ? Have the 2MB module, can't fine it right now.

Max Headroom and Space

Sure someone has already came up with this. Some of the top case support legs on a Falcon I'm building are in pretty bad shap, so made some sleeves about 3/8 diameter about 1/2" long with an ID where they can be pressed over the post to keep them from opening the existing cracks when screws are...

While many in the U.S. were awaiting our Falcon order with Toad Computers, Jennifer said a few times getting the Falcon RF interference certified was a substantial cause of the delayed release.
I miss Toad Computer :(
