Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Understood. Both options would be pretty useful if they were available. I was thinking a desk acc which you can select low/med/high. Add that to emuTOS or patch 2.06. 8) No one would have dreamt of doing this 30 years ago.

So is this ScreenblaSTer? :P

Yup, got it. Impressive bit of software, to do that. I'll grab one of these when I can too. I love the simplicity.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

I was thinking more of a desk acc or the like that could switch resolutions by toggling the mono detect line. It would force a reboot, but it would be pretty cool. I can't quite get my head around how troed's ttp works. But, it is one of the neatest tricks I have ever seen on an ST. I have a couple ...

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Just a thought, would it be possible to internally modify the mono detect pin with a gate that can be switched in software? Just send it high or low from an application? Another thought, remove the 13 pin socket and replace it with a 15 pin socket. In theory you could deisgn a PCB that drops into th...

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Holy cow. Actually, more like holy grail. If you could compliment/combine overscan it would be the end all and be all of everything ST video.

In saying that, this is bloody neat.

Narco Police? Great idea, crud execution. I wonder how it would run at 16mhz on the MegaSTE?

I guess if you are offloading video to a card (or processor) there isn't much point running native resolutions? More for GEM based work.

Re: My Atari Stack (at least some of it)

I spend far too much time running around after the kids and not enough playing, these days. I plan to build a garage and new desks to give me more room. Especially for the TT, it needs cranking. My machine that seems to get the most use is a stock Falcon too.

Re: My Atari Stack (at least some of it)

I still have a ton of research to do with my 8 bits. Alternate reality all nighters will have their day again if I have my way. I also have a 600XL (64k, Svideo mod), 2 x800XL's (one is 256k, the other my original one) and an XEGS. I also have about 5 or 6 STFM's, a 520STM, 520STE, Lynx, Portfolio a...

Re: My Atari Stack (at least some of it)

Nice pile, pretty broad coverage.

I have a TT030/TTM195, 130XE, MegaSTe, Falcon030, FalconCT2, A1200 and A4000(040) on my desks at home. No room for elbows. PC and Opteron server underneath, where they belong. :D

Re: ED (2.88mb) Floppy Upgrade for Falcon

Rusty, I'm pretty sure with DSP overclock the 32mhz crystal is still installed. It is just disconnected from the DSP and a 50mhz crystal is installed elsewhere. The CT2 has an onboard 50mhz crystal feed and the trace is interrupted from the 32mhz and replaced with the CT2's (or other overclock) feed...

Re: VGA adapter with Blow Up and VGA/RGB switch

I had a quick stab over the weekend. Not a huge amount of luck, a lot of RTFMing required I think. My main goal was to try and hit a widescreen resolution. I figure it has to be possible. Not easy, but possible. For example;

640x360
720x405
854x480
960x540
1024x576
1280x720

Re: Games that support Jaguar controllers?

It probably didn't help that the MegaSTE and TT030 don't have analogue ports. I loved Zero 5, and a few others back in the day, but couldn't use a jag pad on my Mega. Pity there is no Analogue port VME card. :-)

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Ideally you'd just convert on the mainboard, but, that would be a big job. It'd be cool to patch TOS so the res' are switchable from the desktop. There are VGA to HDMI adapters kicking around ebay for a tenner, don't know if they would be any good though.

Yeah, there will be a point when we will need an onboard DVI/HDMI solution for sure. For now I stockpile 4x3 LCD's and RGB monitors.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

I have three Asus LD's that support 15k. I suspect there are more than a few that just use this kind of solution rather than a scan doubler. What would be cool is a monitor switch with built in scan doubler. I don't know what the demand would be like though.

Re: FPU socket failure?

No worries. Just take it slowly. Greenious is on the money, good side cutters and just carefully cut it out then desolder the pins once it has been removed.
