Looks really nice and neat. So much better than what I have in my Falcon at the moment. Well done!

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST

Placed my order for the ACSI version. I thought I'd start with that and see how it goes. If I like it, I'll be sure to pick up a SCSI version for my Falcon. I'll use the ACSI version for my Mega STe or 1040 STe.

Now the waiting begins. lol

Re: Falcon Clock Patch

Exxos, I'd be interested. I have a Falcon that has a clock patch in it...but it looks like its been butchered. I personally think its the cause a lot of instability in my Falcon. Are you willing to take on some repair work? Brian I could do it yes, though remember I am in the UK.. Yes... I hear yah...

Re: Amiga 600 Vampire 2 accelerator board

^ but you will have unlimited fast ST with 640x400 b/w resolution. Why do you need unlimited speed? What programs need so much speed? Well the primary applications that come in mind for me are 3D and raytracing applications. Granted, the Amiga has a better array of those types of programs (Lightwav...

Re: Amiga 600 Vampire 2 accelerator board

O If the Atari core is just a stone-throw away, then likely it will be on the market way sooner than anything I am working on. With the core being a lot faster anyway.. it begs the question if its really worth me spending time on the boosters any longer. Don't write yourself out yet! As I mentioned...

Re: Stepping back into time, Atari Style...

Kind of the same situation for me. About 3 years ago I was going to dive back in and then I developed heart problems and had to have surgery. Needless to say I was distracted. lol. I work in animation and film production. The ST got me interested in graphics and now I'm going to do a retrospective o...

Re: Calling XRGB Mini Framemeister users!

Please post some examples. I'm considering picking up a Framemeister and I want the best picture. Being in the US, getting these specialty cables is more difficult considering we don't use SCART over here. I wonder how much it costs to ship to California? What was your cost to New York?

Re: Calling XRGB Mini Framemeister users!

Yep... the connector cable used by the Framemeister is a JP-21 cable. Looks like EURO SCART but wired differently. How annoying. My understanding was all you needed was one of these https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/european-scart-to-framemeister-xrgb-mini-passive-converter-for-sale Add an Atari R...

Very clear. Thank you very much.

I'll need to round up some jumpers. Mine definitely doesn't have those.

MSTE SCSI/DMA and internal upgrades

Now that I've resolved the HD floppy disk issue in my MSTE, I intend on upgrading it with some new capabilities. Whether its an HxC floppy emulator, Gotek, UltraSatan or ComosEX, I have a question regarding SCSI/DMA issues in the Mega STE. The machine I have was previously used at an old factory..pr...

Re: Mega STE and floppy drives

I don't think the switch is important - it only controls whether formatting 1.44 is available in TOS menu or not. The Mega STE "probes" the floppy drive to see whether it can do HD an addition to DD, i.e, the MSTE actually does not know if there's an HD capable drive or not. However, if i...

Unknown. No way to test at the moment. I don't have any DMA/ACSI devices to test with. This is why getting basic floppy support is important at the moment.

Re: Mega STE and floppy drives

There is nothing special to do...just the pos 7 in the switch+gal+ajax chip. If you installed a 720KB DD I suppose you turned off the 7th position on the switch, right? Take a look on the FDD data and power cable ... 7th Switch position is off. 720kb DD drive just doesn't work. Same drive transplan...

I'll also check out the 68901 as soon as I get access to a logic probe. Hopefully that will help with the Mega ST2.

Re: Mega STE and floppy drives

I did some drive swapping today. The Mega STE's drive works properly in a different machine...plus a functioning 720 drive goes silent and stops working in the MSTE. So.. there must be something up with the MSTE's ability to detect a floppy drive. Jumpers, cable, faulty chip... don't know yet.

Re: Orphaned Machines need some help

Have you tried swapping the 1040 floppy into the Mega? - I had a similar problem with intermittent drive failure that was caused by a faulty 1772 chip - if you have a diagnostic cartridge you can test it. I tried killing two birds with one stone. I have a non-functioning Mega STE as well with a 720...

Re: Orphaned Machines need some help

You can use a multimeter but it's not a foolproof method, better to use a logic probe - colour modes the mono pin (30) on the shifter will be inactive and vice versa in the mono mode. I did a shifter chip transplant this morning. I took what I thought was a faulty Mega ST2 shifter chip and put it i...

Re: Mega STE and floppy drives

Thank you. The translation is a little rough. Hard to understand. But I'll see if I can make sense of it. Personally I don't care if it's 720k or 1.44. I just want something to work.

If I got an HxC or some other solid state replacement drive would they work in the MSTE?
