Re: Additional OPL2 sound through parallel port ?

And something what our 'expert' here did not notice : ST parallel port is not same as PC parallel port - some lines missing. So, there is a big chance that it simply will not work at all on ST :D

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

Oh dear GOD. You talk about things what I know 1100x better (count of adapted games by me). Those programs writing to fixed addresses will fail with any TOS version if there is hard disk driver installed for instance. But even very good coders at Sublogic made error by setting video buffer under 512...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

AES is not initialized at all before TOS jumps to AES part of self - and that happens not in case of AUTO run, only if that PRG exits. It is not that AES is not fully initialized, it is not started at all. What is assumption here is that VDI is not initialized fully in case of AUTO run. Now, please ...

Re: Additional OPL2 sound through parallel port ?

I did read your post (in which you almost exclusively talk about PCM and DMA which is COMPLETELY irrelevant), which is why I noticed that you have no clue about what OPL2 is but still had to write another long post on why it's a bad idea to use it with an ST. No, you have no clue about Atari HW, ho...

Re: Klax - STE DMA sound patch

Well, it was just using my old tools done in purpose to make Falcon more compatible with STE games. I planned to do it yesterday, but that day was a disaster. And it is luck that Klax does not need some special patches to work on 68030 . Yes, more accurate conversion of arcade sounds nice. Time need...

Re: STEEM SSE Blitter bug

I would say that it is not illegal from top of my head. So, that TOS1.62SE is strange, but maybe not - that could be just CPU test - Move from CCR is not a valid 68000 instruction. It was added on the 68010 for the purpose of supporting virtual machine together with changing MOVE from SR to become ...

Re: Additional OPL2 sound through parallel port ?

Let's forget for minute all need for patching game codes - and look how can get sound at all via Atari ST parallel port. Here, we talk actually about PCM sound via Atari ST parallel port. And that's done already. There were such devices sold, or you could make self it for few bucks. Some games have ...

Re: STEEM SSE Blitter bug

An example where Steem SSE goes wrong and not a real STE would be nice. MOVE CCR,D0 is illegal on the MC68000, or at least I think so. So I'm not sure those are real bugs due to changes, even hacks, causing unexpected errors, and that's what I meant, not offense. What about SW for testing which opc...

Re: STEEM SSE Blitter bug

No, I'm used to you recommending Steem 3.2 instead of Steem SSE by now. People use whatever works for them, Steem 3.2, Hatari, Saint... As far as I'm concerned, there's no Steem SSE bug until I could reproduce/acknowledge it. That's not exactly like that. I don't recommend using instead. I say that...

Re: Klax - STE DMA sound patch

OK, did some tests on real Falcon and in Hatari 2.0.0 . Klaxfalc works on them via FSTE8CO or FSTE16C0 - small programs for setting Falcon in STE mode, PMMU, etc . One will run at 8, other at 16 MHz . You need to copy them in game's DIR and drag & drop KLAXFALC.TOS in ... Then will work. Sound b...

Re: STEEM SSE Blitter bug

Wellcome to the forum :D Steven will not like this: why just not using old (v 3.2) Debugger for usual SW ? I'm sure that blitter emulation is OK in it - myself did some blitter code, and all it worked well. Not to mention tons of games and other SW. I guess that Steven just does lot of changes, even...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

... Yeach. Mixing VDI & Joyvec on non-AES program sounds pretty dirty. Why you don't just use an IKBD interrupt handler both for keys & joystick? It's not that many lines of assembly. My old game here has assembly for that, which I think should be compatible with GCC gas, AHCC, VBCC Vasm + ...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

Lot of posts . I think that Ijor has the point here. Atari ST documentation is just poor. I know some C and even some Asm part sources for some TOS versions, but none is complete. Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

As said - it returns ASCII code when key is pressed, and scan code when is released (negative for release). That's what I know for sure, and I don't need more. EmuTOS just acts not like all known TOS versions in it. Over. Those vectors are there in purpose, to make coding easier and TOS version inde...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

Fact is, that the implementation in TOS will return the input value from the ACIA in D0 upon return from this function... at least most of the time. Ikbdsys is a dispatching function, that will call other functions, depending on wether the received byte is a plain keypress, or some other byte belon...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

... Ok, the whole issue is about ikbdsys implementation. There are no parameters, as that callback directly reads data from the ACIA. Where do you see that it should return a value? It not should, it returns a value. And I talked about it in my second post in this thread. The fact that it is not do...

.... You should look closer. Kbdvbase() + 32 is the address of the ikbdsys vector, not statvec. And that one does indeed return a value. Finally someone who paying attention on details. Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

Yes, you can follow incomplete DOCs, or can look what really happens . Honestly, I even did not notice all those voids.
