Re: HxC vs Ultrasatan, hotswapping ST to ST

I wrote to DEL NERO (creator of the HxC) and he said that the HxC drive works just like a floppy drive, so no need for restart, hot swapping is possible, etc.

Re: HxC vs Ultrasatan, hotswapping ST to ST

Yep, use of midi is all tied up, plus it would mean exiting the program I'm using, which makes swapping floppies the faster choice.

Re: HxC vs Ultrasatan, hotswapping ST to ST

AtariZoll, I sent you a PM regarding testing it, thanks

If anyone could input on HxC experiences - loading an image via the LCD on the HxC itself, no rebooting needed, etc?

thanks

HxC vs Ultrasatan, hotswapping ST to ST

Hi Everyone, My second-to-last floppy drive has finally died. Recently they've been dying fast, I've been through 4 in the past year. My setup: I use two Atari STs in conjunction with each other, constantly trading floppies to get files from one and use in the other, with the same program running on...

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

Another question: Is the magnitude of error constant? Is it wrong in the same way whenever it's wrong? More testing would need to be done.* Not sure. By what I heard, I would say there's more than one different speed. As I said before I didnt have a real ST there to reference, so probably sometimes...

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

Hey There All. So I'm back from an international trip wherein I performed 7 concerts with two MiSTs instead of two Atari STs. What a great space and weight saving time I had! I was able to get two cheapie LCDs with full RGB adjustments for 10 bucks each, brought down the green and blue so I had an e...

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

Ok, I'm back from my gruelling tests. :contract: Good news first: Its real damn close! Totally usable, particularly with my 1040STe when the MiST is set to STe. I learned some interesting things tonight, not just about MiST but about my two main Ataris as well (a Mega1 and a 1040STe with 4MBram) My ...

Re: Hot-swapping SD cards in MiST, possible?

Would somehow networking the two mists together make it possible to swap files? Sure, if you have them connected via MIDI you can use a terminal program like rufus to copy files. But that seems ot be even more cumbersome ... not if i have zero PC's on hand, which will often be the case when i'm on ...

Re: Hot-swapping SD cards in MiST, possible?

What's your usecase that you constantly copy files between two mists? Seems to be a very special use case. It's sure possible to support that. But just not atm. I use the same algorithmic composition program on two different ST's, they both randomly generate melodies and rhythms based on parameters...

Re: Hot-swapping SD cards in MiST, possible?

There are series resistors in the control lines for basic protection and an inductor in the power line. That inductor unfortunately doesn't have the intended value causing some mists to reset themselves on card insertion due to a short power drop. So yeah, I'd prefer if you don't do hotswapping. It...

Re: Hot-swapping SD cards in MiST, possible?

ok, I can work around it, the time I lose in having to restart is more than gained in the speed at which I can save and load from the SD

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

I've uploaded a new core which is supposed to be 0.001% close to a real Atari ST. This is meant to be 20 times closer to a real ST than the previous version. I didn't do much tests with this version. But please give it a try. We are now exceeding the limits of the precision of the parts involved (i...

Re: MiST ST HD / "NOT Bootloaded"

I got everything working today; 3 SD cards partitioned to single 64MB, one SD card faulty, took lots of pain to figure that out. Apologies for essentially not reading the plain instructions to do it right; if i had followed those to the letter I would have been fine from the get-go. Internet at my s...

Re: MiST ST HD / "NOT Bootloaded"

I think I may have seen the error of my ways. I'm having SD card problems with copying, so the one working AHDI floppy image is really valuable to me, so I didnt bother even trying the HDX software, because it gave the impression with all its warning that I was about to format my one working floppy!...

Indeed! I don't know what I smoked earlier

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

What can you do? Do you know how to use a soldering iron? Are you willing to use it? Then you could lower the values of R1 and R5 on your MiSTs MIDI add-on board. I think the new MIDI boards you guys have look a little bit different than the ones i have depicted on my page. I'll update that asap. B...

MiST ST HD / "NOT Bootloaded"

Hello all,
I've followed the directions on the AtariMassStorage page but I'm unable to get my MiST to boatload the HD images. I've tried with multiple TOS images, not sure what else i can try. Has anyone encountered and overcome this problem?
Thanks !

Hot-swapping SD cards in MiST, possible?

Hello All Enjoying my two MiSTs for MIDI production, day 3. I've noticed that when I remove the SD card (call it SD1) that I booted up with, insert a 2nd SD card (SD2, containing a file on a floppy image that was just saved on the 2nd MiST) and then open the OSD to choose the new floppy, the MiST on...

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

Yay, I've joined the MiST crew! I got two MiSTs via Lotharek yesterday and have been exploring the MIDI as well as failing to get a hard drive image working. I did some tests to see if the MIDI behaviour was consistent and I noticed two things, but the second one may be such a specialised case that ...

I strongly suggest everyone installing the new RISC OS release for the rPi and getting !Hatari, it runs perfectly! I'm personally trying to find a way to get MIDI I/O, but games are running just fine

I'm unable to get Hatari to run in console (goes to black screen, no response, need to hard reboot), I'm using Wheezy 18-9-12. Are you using any specific parameters to get it to run in console?

Re: Hatari 1.5.0 under GNU/Linux short manual

Hey that worked perfectly, and everything was compiled. There were a few "not found" messages during the "make" and then after running make install I try running the ex. and I just get a blank screen. I'm wondering if some of this "not found" stuff has to do with it. Pe...
