Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

Not shorts are the concern but burned PCB holes from inside if you didn't do it properly. You can't see that with a magnifying glass.

Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

Well, you can always try to remove the Dallas chip, I have verified that Falcon is able to boot without it. ;-) Or take the chip from another Falcon and verify you haven't damaged the PCB.

Hades with working sound wanted

Hey guys, is there someone with a Hades which has sound working? Before I loose my energy for this, I'd like to verify my sound routines are working there as well (as we have recently verified and debugged it on the Milan).

Ideally with a 060, as 040 Milans seem to be too slow for the job!

Re: CTPCI and USB card

I checked it, this is a problem with the newer MiNT, keyboard, mouse, mass storage works without any problems with versions 1-17 on which also works with network cards. If you feel up to some testing, feel free to report it on https://github.com/freemint/freemint/issues. I'd start with 1.18 from ht...

I think you're counting in wrong order. :) Bit 0 = most right one, bit 31 = most left one. So in your case, the resolution in 256 colours mean your mode must end with ...011, not begin.

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

I was surprised the money needed to fund volume 2 increased in comparison to volume 1, despite lesser goodies. You can thank to people like Gryzor for that: This time the costs are also rising high, because I need to pay a translator and investigate more into the outcome of the language quality. Ri...

Neurotoxic: thanks mate! So yes, your Milan Blaster driver seems to be installed properly.

I guess Mark_G & joska will appreciate some information how did you manage to do that as they are both missing the fifth bit in the _SND cookie.

Neurotoxic: run a tool like SysInfo (https://sites.google.com/site/stnonesse ... nf502e.zip) and look for "_SND" cookie. Just report the value set there. :)

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

Keops :D But all right, let's be all nice and friendly and constructive. The real irony here is that I really get what Gryzor is trying to say and I'm even tempted to say that I agree it's a problem. So now I'll try to imitate Gryzor with really lousy English but a subtle change of wording, just to ...

Gryzor, you're trying so hard that you have managed to get lost in your own arguments. ;-) You have entered the discussion about people not expressing true opinions about bad products. Then some people tell you that maybe it's because they don't consider them as bad products and are happy with them ...

Awesome. :) Apart from the obvious features (complete with metal case!), can you make some comparison to Exxos's PSU? I don't mean it as a flamebait of course, I just don't know a thing about PSUs so it's hard to decide what are pros and cons of each.

ct60tos.bin is as standalone as it gets. ;-) It's a merge between the classic 512k image and additional stuff. So there are calls to the 'other half', you can't just dissect it.

Gryzor, now I read your reviews -- to quote, "Erm...no, no, no." The typical "I know everything because I'm so into books so I can judge and tell you why your product suck." This is what you call a constructive critics? I'll tell you what you could have offered to Marco -- the pr...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

I am using v4.5 (or something like that). gdb seems to be working on it fine for me.... To what extent? It's not like gdb doesn't work at all with newer GCCs, it's just... buggy. For instance you set a breakpoint and it's missed. Or you are tracing code and it suddenly jumps etc. So if your gcc 4.5...

Re: REminiscence flashback for falcon

MilanBlaster is IIRC slightly different from both Falcon XBIOS and GSXB. I believe GSXB attempts to support/implement MilanBlaster features, but maybe not close enough? What a mess. So if I understand that correctly, we have: ⋅  MilanBlaster and its own XBIOS extension claiming to be Falc...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

wongck: you can use sparemint libraries (although I really wouldn't recommend that, 10+ years old now). gdb refuses to play nice since gcc 4.x so if you really, really want to debug stuff natively, gdb 2.95 + sparemint gdb is the only way I'm afraid. :-( Maybe you can use newer gdb but the old gcc i...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

Actually I welcome ggn's & dml's initiative. This made me curious whether the situation described in http://d-bug.mooo.com/beyondbrown/post/gcc-6/ is really that bad (it isn't) which consequently led to looking into gcc7, then Thorsten came with his patch so that fast-forwarded everything and no...

Btw is this port supposed to run on Ataris in general, or just Falcons? I just tried it on my Milan but it exited immediately with an error message saying it can't open sound device. I have MilanBlaster XBIOS installed. joska: can you play audio in mxPlay on your Milan? It uses XBIOS only. If so, i...

Re: REminiscence flashback for falcon

My guess would be that the biggest bottle neck is actually the sound. The intro is clear, a lot of redraws, what is not very stock Falcon friendly (chunky to planar...). But the game itself, it it doesn't redraw the whole screen each frame, should be pretty easy to get running on stock Falcon. EDIT:...
