Re: Corrupt Newdesk.inf help

Yes, I just meant the icons really. I wasnt sure how much info about the HDD was stored in the inf file and how much would be lost. Definitely did not want any risk of losing HDD data or even trying to remember the names of the drives for that matter! Thanks for clearing that up. Uhm so instead jus...

Re: Aniplayer 2.23 - June 2013 release!

Well, perhaps it depends on what the Radeon can do for you. But as I understand the news entry, the zoom should be accelerated out of the box during fullscreen playback as long as the CTPCI/VIDX cookie is present. EDIT: His website is more explicit: "Uses VIDIX interface for YUV to fullscreen c...

Re: Corrupt Newdesk.inf help

Now if only I can figure out how to remove the oversize 800x600 VDI/AES setting from my older saved newdesk.inf I wont have to scrap it and lose my cecile HDD partitions info. I think you're mixing unrelated stuff together. I'm 99.9% sure that Cecile doesn't store anything in NEWDESK.INF. If you're...

Re: Aniplayer 2.23 - June 2013 release!

I think MadMax2023 widely misinterpreted the news entry in Aniplayer. :) VIDIX is the abbreviation for VIDeo Interface for *niX. VIDIX was designed and introduced as an interface for fast user-space drivers providing such video performance as mga_vid does for Matrox cards. It's also very portable. T...

I just installed EasyMiNT and it went fine. I just can't get any shell to work. TosWin2 console is just blank. I tried following the instructions here but didn't make a difference. Any tips? First, you're launching the console which is only for console output (from other apps). What you want to sta...

Sure it is: http://dev-docs.atariforge.org/files/MetaDOS_Dev_Doc_1-3-1989.pdf (official by Atari), http://patrice.mandin.pagesperso-orange.fr/download/misc/metados-bos.txt (by Patrice Mandin) You can get an example of a file system driver here...

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

As a coder I appreciate the beauty of this but ... isn't this just a waste of (your) resources? What's wrong with patching, say, the desktop resolution dialog and let the user choose appropriate resolution, similarly as PeP did with his SuperVidel driver? For any serious work (copying files, runnin...

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

You have to fool the apps that they're starting in the resolution they were written for, while at the same time switching both back and forth from the resolution you initiated, _and_ you need to keep TOS/GEM/AES/VDI happy since it definitely is unable to switch out its internal data structures on t...

Not sure whether this kind of setup was even supported. I'd say you're supposed to use either of the drives but not both.

Also, I'd try to disconnect EtherNAT although that's a kind of desperate move, yes.

Someone with EtherNAT and FreeMiNT?

Hi guys, our mate czietz has found a disturbing bug in EtherNAT USB/network driver and we need someone to confirm the bug fixed or at least that it hasn't broken anything: https://github.com/freemint/freemint/issues/63. You can download whole freemint archive with mentioned bugfix here: https://gith...

All ST/STE/TT/F030 use the same keyboard, although with different looks/iterations. And the basic schematic of the keyboard can be found here: http://dev-docs.atariforge.org/files/Mega_ST2-4_Schematic_2-19-1987.pdf page 8 or 9 I think. I've seen another schematic of the keyboard elsewhere aswell. J...

It really was a dumb question. The solution is more straightforward than I thought:

i.e. just buy any generic DSUB socket screws and that's it.

Re: Three Sparrow Mainboards on EBay

As I said, apart from IC location the board is 99% identical to the final product.

What is somewhat interesting are the first dev boards (not auctioned here), also mentioned by 1st1:

Here you can clearly see an STE descent.

He? There had been two revisions (the seller sells two rev.2s and one rev.1 so you can compare them by yourself, too), rev. 2 nearly identical to the Falcon, only some of the ICs are on different places, so is rev.1.

Re: Three Sparrow Mainboards on EBay

Hmm, all of them seem to have missing the following parts: CPU, RAM card and TOS chips. The most expensive one has the NVRAM chip missing, too. So I'd say until I make a dump of my working Sparrow TOS in 2018 the buyer is stuck with a non-working machine for sure. But the price is way too high for a...
