Re: ST emulators on Milan

A GFX equipped TTs, PAK030, Falcons(030/040/060) with NOVA, Eclipse, Radeon or SV and Firebee are not real enough to you? But this would require far more 'system friendly' approach. My idea was to actually abuse Falcon hardware as much as possible -- that means HBL/Timer-B interrupts, VBL and so on...

Re: ST emulators on Milan

Well, the question is what exactly would you run then? Obviously not ST games/demos so that leaves only CPU-agnostic software (perhaps already targeting fast 030/040/060) and that I can already run on my Falcon so I don't need to code it. ;) You could run a large number of the Falcon/HD-fixed games...

Re: ST emulators on Milan

Aranym is mainly intended to run clean programs, and not any demos/games that use lot of hardware tricks, so that does not make much sense. The MIlan is exactly the same case. That's why the ST emulator to run the ST games and demos is needed. Unfortunately, the real 68040 and, I'm afraid, 68060 to...

Re: ST emulators on Milan

The Aranym users would definitely profit from that too. Aranym is mainly intended to run clean programs, and not any demos/games that use lot of hardware tricks, so that does not make much sense. And it only emulates a '040 cpu, so any programs that have problems with that will most likely don't wo...

Re: CTPCI and USB card

You're right, this deserves some conclusion. The first thing is to name the problem precisely, there are three separate problems: ⋅ CTPCI+USB keyboard/mouse (beginning of this thread) ⋅ CTPCI+network card (http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=31641) ⋅ 060...

A solution for rare 68060s?

https://github.com/amigabill/fp68060

Unfortunately it doesn't mention for *which* FPGA 060 project (or I've missed it during my brief check) but an interesting project nevertheless.

Re: Which games could be possible on our Ataris today ?

I’ve read here that a CT60 Falcon would equal a pentium @90 Mhz or so. One might assume the Falcon should be able to handle pc vga games requiring a pentium and below ? If you look at Quake port by Mikro, then yes :) Falcon CT60 can be compared to Pentium PC systems... With SuperVidel - absolutely....

Re: Apple G5 Powermac Atari

It is like when Apple switched from IBM to Intel nothing worked and everything had to be rewriten evenually. Erm, no. There was an emulator included in the operating system. It happened twice, btw: m68k -> PPC and PPC -> Intel. In both cases the transition was made via an emulator. So I'm asking wh...

Re: Sell the last 5 CTPCI

I agree, CTPCI definitely has its potential but its usefulness is way more connected to software support (read: people willing to write drivers) than, say, SuperVidel (which is usable basically out of the box with a few patches to NVDI).

Re: Sell the last 5 CTPCI

Just a bit of advice, don't sell it all to one person (we all remember what happened to the Falcons you'd sold in one batch -- that person just put them on eBay for 10x higher price...).

Re: Apple G5 Powermac Atari

And what would you run there, Simie? No software would run without an emulator. In that case it makes sense to run the emulator natively. ;-)

Definitely the first GTA would be doable on the CT60, maybe even 030 with some compromises.

Re: Apple G5 Powermac Atari

I know that the Amiga has a version of its OS running natively on Apple gear. If you are referring to MorphOS that's because it's a PPC-targeted OS. AFAIK support for the true AmigaOS 4.x (another PPC OS, by the way) is just a hack, works only on specific Mac models and IIRC in version 4.0 only. Fr...

Re: ST emulators on Milan

Well, obviously Hatari will :-) But awfully slow. I have been thinking for years to accept the challenge to use m68k native features and emulate "only" the rest but it has many quirks which may make the task impossible. Plus there's the question of feasibility of such plan (target audience...

Public plea for help: if anyone can mention my name to him (Miro Kropacek) and ask him whether he can check his mailbox, I would owe you one. Getting a reply like "Yeah, I hate him" is totally OK :), I just want to be sure it's not a technical issue.

Re: CT60, updating ABE and/or SDR, JTAG device error !

The JTAG device is the same as this, "Other way : make the cable yourself", document describes. I think this must be the culprit then. The only difference to your steps I had done in the past is that I'd bought a new one and just connected the pins. Maybe the schematics is wrong, maybe yo...

I think the chunky modes should be without the bit set as well.

By the way, while are you at it, why not add the extended video resolutions as well? I documented it a while ago here: https://github.com/freemint/mintlib/blo ... con.h#L173

Re: Underscore character

Apart from the custom mapping, there's far more easier method (at least it works for me every time I see something else printed): change "Keyboard mapping" from "Symbol" to "Scancode" in the Keyboard menu. That way I always get the symbol I want.

Yeah, an unfortunate side effect of Windows hosting -- on disk it's "CT60" but the original link was "ct60" (which is cached by Google). I fixed a lot of them but cached results persist. :-/ As I said, anyone willing to clean this mess is more than welcome. I just made sure the w...

Thanks Peter for your input! Actually it was me who started making accusations of Patrice's SDL :-P. We have been testing some video setups on my SuperVidel and I was getting just blank screens without anything, we couldn't figure out what's wrong for weeks.
