Re: etv_term vector

But this is totally awesome! How come so few apps use it? Just a few days ago someone asked on the mint mailing list how come NetSurf takes down the whole OS on a memory violation exception. Well, because it's not using this vector to restore its IKBD handlers! Does it work properly also in FreeMiNT...

Re: etv_term vector

Wow, I have never heard about this one before and it sounds like a totally useful thing! Does this applies also to exceptions? I mean if an app tries to access hardware or causes memory violation, will this vector still be called?

Isn't there the problem that the library for reading them is not open source, maybe even windows only?

I second Joska -- I have recovered several times my source code like that. :D You can do that even with PRGs, if the diskette is not very fragmented. Also take a look at Diamond Edge, that was my tool of the day back then.

Re: Symbolic disassembly for gcc with -Wl,--traditional-format?

I've encountered this problem with some mintlib versions, C-library function that took most of time in BadMood, was the one for which symbols had been removed from official MiNTlib builds with badly selected linked options (I complained about that loudly on MiNT mailing list). ... and look, it took...

Re: Atari on home network

Depending on the size of your hard disk, ftp can take forever. The easiest option is to either connect your disk directly to PC or make an image of it and mount it in Aranym or similar.

[ANNOUNCE] (Yet another) change of FreeMiNT mailing list

Hi, as you may know, the FreeMiNT (an OS for m68k Atari 16/32-bit Atari systems and compatibles) mailing list has moved from its original domain fishpool.fi to atariforge.org in May 2016. Unfortunately, due to lack of time to maintain this server, it has been often down and therefore the ML inaccess...

Re: Symbolic disassembly for gcc with -Wl,--traditional-format?

What prevents you from generating both binaries? You'll get the same result. Also, using a.out-style symbols is much better as there's no limit on length, very helpful in bigger projects.

Re: micro cosmos information?

IKBD: while I don't know why the computer goes nuts (it should just ignore any input), yes, this is exactly the problem. Jookie was considering to initialise early firmware as write-trough but still, you have to power the CE up. Or use a switch, yes. Look at the schematics at Jookie's website. There...

No real news, except my very limited time right now. However I haven't abandoned those PCI/USB issues, I just can't solve them at the same time. Right now I'm (more or less) trying to catch the bug with Milan PCI-USB (strange regression, having hard time even to pinpoint it down...) and Kroll's NetU...

nada-san: I would be very careful with the plan to offer the Paypal prepaid option (just seen it on the IGG notes page). For many people, incl. me and Jookie, this very idea was a highway to hell. Paypal requires you to have products to sell, it doesn't matter you tell them this is the shipment date...

Re: micro cosmos information?

1. Yes, IKBD injector works only with the CE powered up (this may change in a later revision)
2. There's a CE Sting "emulator" on O:
4. Normal GEMDOS limits apply, in case of the ST, 512 MB.

Re: eBay deal gone bad

When shipping something fragile like retro computers there is only two real options - original box (with inserts!) or a crate. I might have been lucky but with good packaging (bubble wraps, several layers, big and heavy duty box) and marking it as fragile (yeah, I know, they are free to ignore it) ...

Re: Converting 4 chars to a unsigned long?

Don't worry, many, many great programmers (and me :D) do this kind of mistake from time to time. I haven't looked deeper as of why there isn't a preceding rule like "if it's unsigned, stay unsigned no matter what" but I'm pretty sure wise men and women from the C committee had their reason...

I think Mathias from the acp project was in contact with him due to zDesk perhaps we should ask him how to contact Zorro? IIRC, even he lost him after some time.
