Re: How to install MiNT?

I couldn't find anything called "68000" but tried some others. I found one freemint version and when it booted it complained about missing stuff and just got a "system halted" message. There are no installation files. Just AUTO and some other folders. Can't understand why it has...

Few years later we know the answer: it would take exactly one skilled engineer from the Czech Republic. :-)

Strange. Hopefully in near future I will release mxPlay with Hades/Milan support so then we can do further audio analysis in cases like this.

Re: FreeMinT bug: Mount drive

Interesting. It would really help if you could compare this to some previous experience - like that whether it worked a year ago for instance. Anyways, if possible, try to test at least a build before June 2017 - that was the last time something related had changed. However that requires manual comp...

Re: How to install MiNT?

Don't use the old release... go to https://freemint.github.io/#snapshots, grap the 68000 "distro", point xaaes.cnf to your desktop (bottom of the file) and give it a go.

Yes, it's not totally straightforward but much better than it used to be (IMHO - compare against 1.18...).

Vido: yes, it's totally possible I'm mixing those events up. However I still think Mathias was in touch with someone from R.O.M. Logicware? So while the Firebee machine thing might have happened with Ulf, I still recall something about Papyrus... too long time ago.

Latz, can you really confirm (by running tune2fs on given partition) following scenario? 1. Print current number of mounts 2. Refresh 3. Print current number of mounts again Ideally, without any "maximum number of mounts reached" or whatever else what could lead you to false assumptions. A...

Re: What is the latest Papyrus version?

The really sad thing is that source code isn't lost and Ulli (one of the authors) isn't totally against doing something in favour of Atari users. FireBee guys had talks about it on and on, at one point he even got a FireBee to port Papyrus over but he (unsurprisingly) didn't find time. IIRC I offere...

Re: ScummVM sound on Milan

Out of curiosity, about which build we are talking about? Where it comes from? PmDoom should work fairly well, as it is based on SDL which supports a wide range of audio routines... What value do you set SDL_AUDIODRIVER to? According to my research (https://mikrosk.github.io/extended-xbios), you sho...

Re: Nostalgia Nerd - Atari Falcon video

To contribute to the off-topic spin-off :), I get mzry - he wasn't that concerned about seeing 400 000 without comma (EU standard) but more of 400.000 with dot which is, at least in Australia, denotation meant to represent 400 point zero zero zero. Is it really common (or at least not odd) to repres...

Not sure if I understand correctly, do you mean something like.... this? Uhm, stop listening to me. Your v2.1 is totally fine, I don't know what I was thinking (it seems that I'd overlooked that the masterclock *is* shared with both the Videl and the Combel input). If you like, you can add a simila...

Re: Falcon/CT60e video options

I see you 'forward ported' :) Willy's patch for CT60TOS 1.03c. Apart from that, there's nothing special in that archive - flash060 from CT60TOS 1.03d (Willy's) and drivers.hex from drivers-1.01 package. I don't understand why there is the need for init060.prg? What exactly is that? If CT60e is fine ...

Re: ATARI ST PSU REPLACEMENT ( Power supply unit )

If you look carrefully you can see that all connectors of the new psu are protected by (black) plastic guards on each sides ... it's not possible to touch the keyboard Unless I'm not seeing it properly, it's literally a millimetre from the shield metal. Not to speak about accidental touching the sc...

Why din't you try googling 'FIOZSKBAXXX' instead... you would see it's a perfectly normal SWIFT ID, some of the results are directly from the bank website itself.

Re: Beginning of very long journey

So a Falcon clone for me MUST be able to run Cubase Audio and all DSP based music programs to be interesting. Both CT2 and CT60 needed a patch to run Cubase. :) Of course, it's up to mpattonm to decide, I will support anything which makes the project closer to a successful end, be it a 100% compati...

Joska: I sure know what you mean. But we have some history to build on - AB040, Nemsis, graphics cards, CT2, CT60 etc. So we can see what worked and what didn't. And I absolutely agree with your argument about existing software. So if a couple of DSP-based demos wont work with the new Falcon, it's a...

Re: Beginning of very long journey

Frankly, I'd be interested to know about other cases. Are you sure you are not confusing it with a software bootstrap? I.e. that you use either Dsp_ExecBoot() or NoCrew's bootstrapper to install your code instead of the one by Atari but that is not the same problem. I'm specifically talking about D...

Re: Beginning of very long journey

My impression was that the only reason why people didn't let 32 MHz on VID32 and 50 MHz on its external clock was the difficulty of cutting the VID32 path and replacing it with a separate wire (similarly as done with the SDMA and DSP). IDK, I still feel it would be safer to have an option to run an...

Re: Beginning of very long journey

As Atari users we know that a *lot* of developers knew better than Atari and bypassed the OS. A few weeks ago I was playing around with a DSP modplayer and it uploads it's own DSP bootstrap code. As I person who used to do the same ;) I can tell you it's not that bad. The most known example is NoCr...
