Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Wow, nice set of features and cool non native interface.
It would be excellent if it could support the standard trackers copy/paste/block/transpose keyboard shortcuts (those present in PC FastTracker 2). :)

Re: Atari ST demos on 2 disks supporting drive B

It was my brother who had bought our copy of Street Fighter 2 on ST. I should ask him if he enjoyed playing it. My memories of an ST(e) title willing to bring arcade fighting gameplay on ST was Ultimate Arena , a home-made Mortal Kombat clone for STe. It wasn't too bad compared to Mortal Kombat on M...

Re: Atari ST demos on 2 disks supporting drive B

Ah yes true that big megademos can require many disks changes when browsing. :) And yes again, i was referring to games as programs loading from both drives. Adventure games were especially mad on this. Also Street Fighter II, but as anyone playing this hideous game port could probably be categorize...

Re: Atari ST demos on 2 disks supporting drive B

I'd say you rarely (if not never) have to go back to disk one in demos, do to their program and data structure. :)
Handling two drives is then a more worthy addition for programs loading from both drives at any time.

Ah another Sonic lover i see (there's also Paranoid from Paradox on the ST scene).
Nice clean screen! (but the added SID effect goes a bit dissonant at the beginning of the music)

Re: Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

npomarede: You need a tune but you prefer to use an existing one, that's it?

I doubt any existing compo tunes uses plain YM along DMA samples, as this is a restrictions for demos.
STE YM compos tunes usually involve YM soft-FX along DMA samples.

Re: FM Melody Maker Floppy dead

olivierg : To get files on your PC, you can just set a local PC folder as hard-disk in Hatari (menu: "Hard disks" / "GEMDOS drive" / "Browse" / select the PC folder, it will be mapped as C drive in TOS) and then copy files there from a floppy image.

Re: Do YM Sound Modules Exist?

Actually the most simple way to achieve this, is probably to use a real ST with software to control its YM2149 chip from MIDI input. Possible software candidate would be maxYMiser (pretty sure some MIDI IN configuration can achieve this), or Electric Cow Sound Chip Synth (but website seems down). Al...

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

Yes in-program (aka "online") help is very important to know all the numerous keys functions and shortcuts, as stated in the manual (section 8.3). ;) You can transpose for all instruments, either in the "All" part of the transpose menu (under the "Current" part), either...

Re: STE Sound Volume Adjustment

I don't know if STeem DMA sound volume is actually too low or too high compared to the real machine, but if you want some opinion about what to do, please have its STe DMA sound volume faithful to the real thing (as you suggest). Otherwise STeem will not be usable for YM+DMA composing (using maxYMis...

What i meant is that, without MIST posts, the forum would certainly just have as much activity as it could, considering present Atari scene/homebrew/retro state.

Re: Which direction retro computing goes ?

There are many MIST discussions here, just because a section of this forum is the official MIST forum.
I don't see much post about MIST outside of the MIST section.

And i certainly care more about original hardware than emulation hardware when it comes to Atari computers. :)

Re: Jaguar XJ220 vs Lotus 2 (Amiga) - Which Is The Better Racer?

XJ220 was really cool to me, mostly due to its great soundtrack by Martin Iveson (aka Nuke/Anarchy aka Atjazz), featuring many sweet groovy tunes. 8) Lotus 2 title/menu dancey tune, was also cool though, and a real classic now. ;) Both games were quite equivalent on the gfx side, with good car and s...

copying protected floppies -> floppy destruction?

Did copying protected floppies, with physical protections such as non-written or physically weird sectors, caused floppy destruction? Maybe it was just reread attempts which could have caused early wear? Or were there some other physical destructive behaviour involved? Or was this just urban myth? (...

AtariZoll, you know that getting recognition is a not short term thing when it comes to ATARI activities. ;)
I haven't got the occasion to play your version yet, but what you describe in the thread is once again super enhancement, so congrats for this idea and realisation.
