Re: GFABasic or STOS or other?

And if you want to try STOS, check out my program STOS Buddy. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=27553 It has just about every STOS document or tutorial in one help file and a ton of STOS game and program listings with syntax highlighting and mouse-over descriptions of every single ...

Re: Do I need to learn assembly to make a music disk?

You could have a look at: https://github.com/ggnkua/Atari_ST_Sources There's a ton of assembly code in there for various menus/demos/music routines. There's probably something in there that might help. You would have to download the whole giithub archive (~500MB) and then extract the files and searc...

Re: Some STOS scans etc

Not sure, but I thought I'd ask... In the STE turbo Pack there is a version of S.T.O.S, I have no idea whether this version is any different from any other STE version but you never know? I had the Turbo Pack, and yes there are differences. There's only a single STOS disk. This meant that some of t...

In the next update to STOS Buddy which will be released... eventually, I intend it to have the following features: The ability to play .YM music files so you don't need to have music stored as MP3s or WAVs any more. (This feature is already done.) Finish adding all of the STOS programs that I can fi...

Re: Introducing STOS Buddy.

The issue with the CHM files not opening might be due to a Windows security measure. See: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11438634/opening-a-chm-file-produces-navigation-to-the-webpage-was-canceled Basically you would have to right click on the CHM file, click on "properties" then click...

Not sure why that is. The Windows 7 computers I've tried seemed to work ok. Maybe I need to add an amendment to the documentation if it's a common problem.

Re: Introducing STOS Buddy.

The disk-zine articles are definitely there within the .chm file. Each magazine issue is like a folder, just open it up and the articles are in there.
e.g. Disk-Mags->STOSSER Diskmag Articles->Disk 1->[The articles]

And yes, you can absolutely put it on your site.

Introducing STOS Buddy.

STOS Buddy is a program which is designed to tell you everything there is to know about STOS in one convenient package. You can download version 1, which includes the full source code, from the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ybdzk6zuacv9uh8/STOS%20Buddy%20V1%20%26%20Source.zip?dl=0 STOS B...

Re: Formerly undocumented STOS extension now documented.

Various versions of MusicMon can be downloaded here: http://dhs.nu/files.php?t=chipeditor I wonder if songs created with the latest version of MusicMon can still be accurately played with this extension? Probably not... I'm pretty sure it will only work with MusicMon V1 songs. The song format and r...

Re: Formerly undocumented STOS extension now documented.

Is that the same thing ? MMM_PLAY was included in STOSSER issue 9. It uses the binary replay routine which was included with the Music Mon program. The replay routine is loaded into a memory bank and called using the STOS "areg" and "call" commands. The extension contains the sa...

Formerly undocumented STOS extension now documented.

There is an obscure STOS extension which has the filename, MONST_C1.EXK and MONST_C1.ECK is the compiler counterpart. No documentation existed for it, so I went ahead and made some. This extension is for playing MusicMon v1 files, and for turning mouse reporting off and on. The extension files are n...

Question about Viz: The Game

I used to have this game for my ST in the early 90s. It was a pretty good game, difficult but fun. However, there's one thing that always bugged me about it that I've never really found a conclusive answer to. My question is a simple one: In Viz: The Game, does Biffa Bacon's punch ability do anythin...

I've just managed to get past the impossibly hard first level of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Cross of Coronado). I've been playing the game on and off since I was ten and twenty one years later I finally managed it. This was one of the games that came with my STE (In the Turbo Pack) back wh...

This was on a the ST Review issue 8 coverdisk.
I figured out how to activate the cheats accidentally, as did probably everyone else who played it. If you do complete it with the cheats though, it calls you a cheater at the end of the game.

Re: Cheat mode free games?

I'd not seen that particular crack. I have a couple of other images of the game. The game itself has no built-in cheats though. I would be not so sure in that - many games have secret cheats, accessible with some key combinations. We don't have all built-in cheats published. I'm pretty certain that...

Re: Cheat mode free games?

Fire and Ice was one game that was confirmed to have no cheats. (I think I read it in ST Format when someone requested a cheat.) I even tried finding a cheat with a memory editor while running it through an emulator.. and failed. Still haven't seen the 5th world to this day. :( I've also not seen a ...

Re: Impossible Mission 2

I spent an hour or so on this game today and managed to complete it.. at long last!! When we got our STe in 1991 or so, this was one of the games that came with it. We had the seemingly rare Turbo Pack, which came with 8 games and a few other things. The furthest I got through it was about half way....

Re: What was the first game you played on your ST?

Blood Money was one of the first games I played too (Came with the seemingly rare Turbo Pack) and I still think it's one of the best shoot-em-ups on any system. Me and my brothers could never get to the 3rd or 4th level until we found out a cheat, which was almost impossible to enter unless you trie...
