LCD TV with Atari ST connected via SCART

Hi, I currently have my ST connected to a CRT TV, which is fine. However, I am looking at connecting it to a LCD screen, so I can have all of my machines/ consoles connected to the same TV. I tried my ST on several LCD TV's I have, and all but one worked. The one what did not work (connected via SCA...

Re: Problem with the Internal Floppy Drive

Found and fixed the problem :D

The ribbon has a tear in it, exposing the wire. I have put insulation tape on and it now works fine.

Cheers for the help everybody

Re: Problem with the Internal Floppy Drive

I only disconnected one cable (keyboard) mate. I didn't even touch any of the others.

BTW - I have read your guide, I was using it at the time as soon as I realised it did not take SIMM memory :) .

Re: Problem with the Internal Floppy Drive

Ok cheers.

Does this mean if the cable is damaged, I need to get a standard 34-pin cable and solder 34 joints to the board or is there another way?

Re: Problem with the Internal Floppy Drive

Hi guys,

It's more a problem that my floppy drive doesn't seem to be working that I need to fix, but thanks for the info.

I could not get the case-sized metal shielding off to see the motherboard, but it did look very much like that one in the picture of your link.

Problem with the Internal Floppy Drive

Hi guys, I have a 520STFM and recently bought 4MB of 30-pin SIMM memory in upgrade it. I took the machine apart (very carefully) to realise it didn't take that kind of memory  . Anyway, I have accepted to just leave the machine as is. So I put everything back together (I removed the casing, ke...

Re: Anywhere to buy new joysticks (UK)?

Right lol, I thought the joystick worked perfectly, however... The player 1 wire (the joystick has 2) didn't allow you to move down, and player 2 left. I found out it was the actual wires on the joystick themselves though. I took the wire of a megadrive joystick and soldered them to this joystick an...

Re: Anywhere to buy new joysticks (UK)?

Good news! I took my ST apart to solder it this morning, but just before I started, another joystick came, similar to the arcade one I posted a link to and this time it had a system switch on and works perfectly :D . The solder joints look pristine and I think they are new (pretty sure this ST came ...

Have found another thread about re-soldering the joystick port joints and a link to the Wiki.

Dont suppose anyone has the images for that Wiki that seem to have been removed?

External floppy drives

I know you cannot use USB floppy drives for burning data onto for use on an ST, however, can you use any other type of external floppy drive like this one for example - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toshiba-external-Floppy-disk-drive-/320709734515?pt=UK_Computing_LaptopAccessories_LaptopDrives&hash=item...

Anybody? This is quite a problem, because I cannot keep buying more joysticks in the hope that one [i]may[i] work in the end. I have just got another of the above joysticks (long story - ordered 2 off e-bay thinking they were the same ad and ended up having to buy both! - Mobile phones aren't good f...

Re: Anywhere to buy new joysticks (UK)?

3 of them have the same problem where the buttons work, but the movement of the stick does not.

I have another stick that works fine though. The joystick I put a link to does not have any swtches on it for different systems
