Re: Double Buffered Sample Replay Routine

You can get an interrupt call back on the ste.(timer a) when its finish playing the sampels. It is very simple. I found a source code some places (I dont remember where) that both could play samples using ST or the STE

Re: Additional OPL2 sound through parallel port ?

i think to remember something about there is a hardware bug in the opl2 chips. something with its interrupts, so on the PC we had to use "In" because you had a constant delay no matter how fast your pc was (8mhz) here is code snip from my MS Dos player mov dx,regsport add dx,portadd out dx...

for me its very simple, if you make / write something you got full rights over it. so if others use your work without your consent, then they are breaking the copyright law. i know that Lonny have things on his site, that he did not do. but those thing is long forgotten by the people that hold the r...

Re: We redesign the STE

what drove me away from the Atari, was the waiting time, if the falcon had arrived sooner i would have bought it. for me it had nothing to do with the tos, the first many years that i had my PC i was using DOS (that i loved) it was first when win95 was release i started using windows but i still use...

Re: Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

when the STE is finish playing a sampling don't it trigger an interrupt? could you just make the sampling buffer a size that fit the timing? i was thinking about the mono (int15) interrupt. The STE will raise an interrupt after playing a sample, but you can mask the interrupt so that it doesn't tri...

Re: Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

If you're looking for something never heard on the ST before what about looking at the Spectrum 128, or Amstrad for YM compatible music? Yes, maybe, although I think a music using the extra STE dma sounds channel would be nice (also, I don't know Spectrum/Amstrad composers that much) can u use time...

Re: Project-Ymer...2017

This video is a sneak view of the next version of Project Ymer. i wanted sample drums on the Title / high score music of Enduro Racer, so i had to add samples to my YMT format. i have been going cold with Enduro Racer, so i probably wont have anything ready this year, instead of, i will try to get a...

Re: YM Stand Alone Sound Modules? I want one!

Hi i had a brief look at the source code, (don't know much C) and for me it look like they have done some the midi functions, so maybe it could be that it is a fun little device. I also found this in my search https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUPs2pv5d_g https://electronicfields.wordpress.com/2012/05...

Re: YM Stand Alone Sound Modules? I want one!

hi if it is a pre made one then i don't know that it can do, but if i should make one, i would add a chip where i made the synth software on, and not like in my window player, the problem is, all the fx like vib, arpeggio and more important sid fx need to be played precise whole the time or maybe yo...

Hi Neild323
you don't have any preset sounds, only sound register, you need to code it all (make routines for), freq, volume, envelope, vibrator ect.

Re: blitter question

The fastest screen clearing (32kb) with CPU on ST is something like that: movem.l d0-d7/a0-a5,-(a6) or movem.l d0-d7/a0-a6,xxx.w (screen address has to be in low memory) Unrolled it needs between 68k and 69k cycles. The blitter in HOG mode needs for the same around 64k cycles. So you will have just...

Re: blitter question Solved

ok here is an other question. people say that it does not pay to use the blitter to clear a screen, that it is nearly as fast to use the cpu. but if you get a gain, maybe a little one, would it not still be a benefit? could you do the same trick as on the Amiga, let the blitter filled the top part o...

Re: Enduro Racer Progress update

Nice that you included fps counter :) First Atari game to have this? This version works on 50MHz 68030 STE just fine. I'm getting 10-12 fps with CPU caches disabled and 16 fps with caches on, though then the logic and music starts to run noticably faster... Many thx for the feedback 8) remember thi...
