Always on if possible.

Re: foss-north 2018: Atari ST Free Operating Systems

I compiled it long ago, and I was even able to run a few very old MS-DOS games (I can't remember which ones... Maybe Pac-Man or something like that). DOSBox for MiNT BUT ⋅  It is extremely slow, even on ARAnyM-JIT ⋅  There is still the keyboard bug. Only a few keys work. I was t...

Re: foss-north 2018: Atari ST Free Operating Systems

I think I'm able to fix keyboard issue but it is really strange as other software I have compiled with SDL work nice For Mac Mini color for me coldfire is not enough it work ok on Aranym JIT only, don't think on coldfire it is enough, perhaps with some adjustment on 68080 could work, video is so sl...

Re: foss-north 2018: Atari ST Free Operating Systems

Some years ago I have compiled "dosbox" it was working but keyboard was absolutely wrong and never try to do working, but dosbox is not difficult to compil with SDL as I remember. Dosbox would be great to have on the FireBee, Milan 060, Hades 060, Vamipre, ... About the keyboard maybe it ...

Re: foss-north 2018: Atari ST Free Operating Systems

I have yet to find an Atari (or "Atari") that 1ST Word does not run on. The majority of GEM applications works everywhere. Yes, clean GEM applications should run everywhere. FireBee can be a problem even if it is clean and needs recompilation. But there are several GEM applications which ...

Re: foss-north 2018: Atari ST Free Operating Systems

Imagine one MiNT distribution, which installs on whatever (Emu)TOS running hardware, which looks exactly the same everywhere You cant do this with applications without having sources and be able to patch/compile them for every Atari platform. Applications which would run on most of the Atari platfo...

Re: Game coding

If you are not much into GFA yet, and want to use Basic for games, maybe try to switch to STOS. Its Basic specifically for games creation. I'm not saying GFA is 'bad', its not, its great Basic ( if not the best generally ) and there were many commercial and professional applications written in it b...

Re: hanging

Did you change caps in a modern psu? What's the need for that? And it should be a 12V PSU, not 24V. I think it can be something from 12V to 24V. It just have to provide enough power! I guess it should be at least 2A or something aroung 50W. It also depends what is attached to the FireBee. USB devic...

If its generaly unstable system, I would also try to change power adapter with the one with more power. I guess the most such problems with the FireBees causes power adapters.

Re: hanging

In the meantime you could try to test the combination: keyboard through Eiffel plus USB mouse, maybe it's the workaround solution to get rid of your key stuck effect problem. I believe the only way to get rid of this problem is to upgrade firmware tothe latest available on the firebee.org web page....

This is interesting, which version of FireTOS do you have? You said that you changed the keyboard by an Atari one, and the mouse? Did you change too or you're still using an USB mouse? When I talk about this issue I mean Atari keyboard and mouse connected to the Atari keyboard. I don't think it is ...

Well, my experience is just the other way. I use Atari keyboard with my FireBee and I never had any problem with it. With USB keyboard I had key stuck problem so stoped using it. I believe Mfro and Roger knows more about that problem ...

Re: ST emulators on Milan

Hatari runs games very well but it needs a 2GHz cpu to emulate an STE. It's not really the best option for a Milan. Funnily enough you will probably need a port of those ST emulators that run on Amiga. Compatibility is terrible but the codebase should be much simpler in order to follow and make use...
