Re: Recapping an ST board - is it worth?

I've actually checked not only the capacity of de-soldered caps, but also ESR and leakage current. For the tested units, they were all well in specs. Actually their ESR was better than some brand new generic Chinese LowESR 105*C rated equivalents. anyway, capacitors are parts made to make the machi...

Re: Recapping an ST board - is it worth?

I think it is worth it to recap your power supply if you want to keep your Atari running. I had a 20 year old epoxy filled Spectrum power supply go up in smoke and was glad it didn't damage my Speccy. I don't know if Wang capacitors were that bad. The Bad Capacitors web site was, I thought, in resp...

Re: Recapping an ST board - is it worth?

Have you ever found an faulty electrolytic capacitor on the ST board? I haven't - either on the board, nor on the PSU. According to my experience these WANG'S CAPs were high quality, and all still, after 30 years, are up to their specs. What is your experience in this matter? Are you aware that WAN...

Re: Warzone / Core Design / 1991

Thanks for the job, ijor. Works fine! May I ask you how you shifted the index? @dlfrsilver: it works with TOS 1.0, TOS 1.04 or TOS 1.62 (I use Steem 3.9.4). Got the same issue as yours with TOS 1.02 only. It fails under Steem 3.9.3 even under STE/TOS 1.62. I upgrade to steem 3.9.4. Under Steem 3.9....

Re: Warzone / Core Design / 1991

Just to say that i tried the game disk on my 520 STE/4mb. It fails the same as in IPF, STX and CTR. so it's not tied to disk drive, but the disk itself is faulty :/ The duplication went wrong on this disk :( The disk drive i use works with no problem, i did many Copylock games on both Amiga and ST l...

Re: Warzone / Core Design / 1991

Hi, Strange, didn't decrypt the loader yet, but it seems to fail when looking for something at track 1. It never attempts to read the copy protected sector at track 0. It might be a bad Pasti conversion. Please provide or email the RAW files. It is known if the disk actually works? Hi Ijor, I need ...

not sure, but it looks like that ST version is original? ?? I don't think there is enough info on that page to determine that? you should read all his articles: he did "Scroll Programming" for Wolfchiled and if you read article about Switchblade, you will find: "Switchblade was the f...

Hi, UN Squadron for ST/STE, in CTR and STX format.

This game is protected by the same protection as Strider, the "Sector EDC change" in track 79.0.

Dumps below.

Warzone / Core Design / 1991

Hello guys, i have a problem with this game. I dump the original i bought to an ST guy on facebook. The disk was dirty, i cleaned it, made a kryoflux dump, a CTR, an IPF and an STX file. The game use a copylock ST on track 0.0, and the remaining are ST tracks with 10 sectors each. Problem : Steem 3....

Found this thread by coincidence, interesting disussion here regarding the Kick Off 2 protection... As someone who has cracked "a few" (i.e. all available protected Amiga versions) Kick Off 2 versions I can assure that Rob Northen didn't have anything to do with the protection at all. The...

Re: Disk Repair Tools ST

Well either the disk is dead, or it simply has some mould on disk surface, and no tools will be able to process that. One solution is to open the disk in half, check for mould traces on the surface, and use 70% alcohol with extremely soft demak up cotoon for women to gently remove the poo, and then ...
