Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

Have anyone read this: We received trouble reports from a few STe's used in combination with a hard drive. The problem that arose was the mutilation of data, directories or the presence of faulty sectors during the work. These effects result from the fact that some brands of SIMM's can influence th...

Re: Rainbow Islands development story

Well in fact, Andrew will learn later that the Amiga could do more. Actually in respect to Rainbow Islands he was specifically referring to an Amiga 1200 while developing the Playstation port. He mentioned that the Amiga 1200 would (finally) be capable of reproducing the dual background layers mode...

Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

The problem is more subtile than it is. One of the difficulty to see clear, are the numerous motherboards revisions.... How to do in order to make fixes working on all machines and not some only working on specific MB revisions... Mmhh?

Re: Rainbow Islands development story

This was originally published in either Zero magazine or Ace. I can't remember which and I can't find it at the moment. It's good that this is a searchable document. Nice mention of Run Length Compression and the use of STOS and a great game. I thought it was The One magazine, but could be wrong . ...

Re: JOY - a new Falcon030 demo from New Beat

hello, on my Falcon, and on the falcon of a friend, we met the same problem : the demo is freezing intempestively. the first time i launched the demo, it ran from start to the end. I launch it again : freeze during a 3D figure display, the whole machine locked up. On my friend's falcon, it failed on...

ER was never ported on Amiga. Outrun was a quick and dirty port, with no use of the arcade assets.

Re: List of non proper games dumped

Fate gates of Dawn has its doc check far in the game. Iron Lord i have a set of IPF from my french original (so pristine, awesome state).

But the labyrinth data file should be modified to make the game finishable.

Son Shu Shi has been found, so i guess we will have it through Atari Legend guys.

Re: Enduro Racer Progress update

Hi just a little update on this project. Its not dead. i have add the new fps counter to the program, that i now use in the outrun (that was inspired by"Swap D0") i have also add 4 times as many fps to the render engine to slow the game down, but it should also make it more smooth. ...

I will reflow the solder once I have it all apart as you just mentioned, it doesn't hurt to do this. Regarding the time it takes for the fire button to stop working is probably around 5 minutes, its not that random as its happened everytime, to a point where I can predict when its about to conk out...

Re: Faulty Atari 520STe - black screen

as you stated it, let's make it simple : with the STE PSU, the 68000 behaves normally if i read you carefully, right ?

So this means that something on your STFM PSU is making the 68000 going "hot". One of the components or maybe some are causing this problem.

Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

the other problem is that the STE got 14 different revisions of motherboards, and the modifications made have never been documented anywhere. One thing is sure, the STE with MB final revision and final DMA version were built end during 1991. STE machine made between 1989 and 1990 have beta revision ...

Re: Never Ported respectively released for ST

Remember seeing a claim that suggested Interceptor (E.A) never made it to ST as coder found it rather ironic that the very people who'd bought the ST as it was cheaper than the Amiga, had killed it by pirating it's software... There was just as much, if not more piracy for the Amiga and PC though. ...

Re: Recapping an ST board - is it worth?

I've actually checked not only the capacity of de-soldered caps, but also ESR and leakage current. For the tested units, they were all well in specs. Actually their ESR was better than some brand new generic Chinese LowESR 105*C rated equivalents. anyway, capacitors are parts made to make the machi...
