Chiptunes hitting very high notes ?

Hi all, long time no see! I'm back to listening to YM chiptunes at work, and I was wondering about songs hitting very high notes (very high in frequency), in either stock square or "sid" mode ? Some I know about: - Rollout tune 2 (Mad Max) - from about 2 minutes into the tune - Breath (Tao...

Now, I downloaded the demo, but I can't get it to see the SatanDisk, do you need the full version for it to work?

In my case, the demo version "sees" the Satandisk (and it correctly reports the SD attached to it), but it refuses to partition it.

I am certainly interested but presumably I'd have to desolder my existing chip and then solder on the replacement one which sounds a bit tricky.

Same for me.

The weird thing about Lethal Xcess is that this problem does not show up during scrolling. It only happens when fighting an end-of-level boss and the screen is not moving. This is quite interesting. I see two possibilities here: The scrolling may be stopped, but the ST is still "holding" ...

Do you see the problem happen in demos ? Try the full screen main menu on the Nostalgia demo for Oxygene for instance. Lethal XCess uses the syncscroll trick on the STF, which relies on accurate timing of the shifter to resynchronize the position of the video ram to be displayed (in order to acheive...

Lethal XCess and Wings of Death are my all time favorite, but I also used to play Slap Fight a lot. It was a good port of the arcade game.

I find these news deeply sadning. What a terrible tragedy, and what a terrible waste of a human life. Perhelion will be missed, and I will surely continue to approciate his work and hist contributions to the Scene.

I remember playing Kings Quest IV on my Falcon, back in the days. I would assume that most old Sierra games would work, and install on the HD right out of the box.

Swapped my French STE's 220v PSU for a 120V one from a US STF. Works without a glitch.

Nice thing with it being a European machine with FR TOS is that is boots up in 50Hz refresh mode. Great for demos and games compatibility.

Cheers.

BTW, anyone here remembers U96 (a techno band from the early 90s from Germany), and some of their songs such as "Das Boot' and "I want to be a Kennedy" ? They had synthetized voice samples which I am pretty sure were made with the ST program "Speech". I remember getting Spee...

Hi rich, It might sound obvious, but I would also give the floppy drive a cleanup every once in a while, while working on imaging those old moldy floppies. I would imagine that dust and whatever is on the surface of the disks could accumulate on the on heads and create read errors even on good disks...

Perhaps you could try a "cleaning disk" before you open up the machine. You know, one of those fake floppies with a soft material-like disk inside, and a container of solvant to squirt on the disk before you insert in in the drive...

Frustrating search for an LCD monitor...

Today, I decided to reorganise my office a little bit, and in order to save space I thought about purchasing a cheap LCD monitor for my Falcon. I like the old fashioned CRTs much better for normal daily use, but then again I only had practicality in mind. Anyway,,, I imagined that finding something ...
