*** R-TYPE DELUXE SOURCE CODE ***

OK Guys after many hours of pondering this I have decided to release the source code, but not all of it! Just the main game itself. I'll still be incharge of overview and putting the game together that way I can still be involved in not just handing the project over. You'll need a level file so down...

Re: Saving to PI2 image code example ?

pi2 is the same as pi1 except for the resolution word at the beginning (1 instead of 0)

*** R-TYPE DELUXE ***

I've just been asked if I'm going to release the source code to R-Type Deluxe and while the thought had never entered my head it has got me thinking. What if I was to image up all the disks and release the code within the next few weeks? Why? Well as it's almost finished why not make this an entire ...

R-TYPE DELUXE

An early XMas prezzie from me. Don't unwrap till tomorrow or if you can't wait. Install the same as all other versions press F1 on the title screen for an options menu. The cheat is still the same and now gives you a level select option, ESC to see the end screen when playing a stage. 'SAVE.ST' is t...

New R-Type Deluxe screenshots.

Here's a few more screenshots to get your teeth into. This time level 6.
I've only put one of the big aliens in as yet (at the very beginning of the level).

Re: Mega Demos with Auto Mode

I don't thin OCWAS has an auto-mode. I think the Ventura demo has so does the Electra demo.

Re: R-Type Deluxe screenshots.

The graphics stay as a starfield. As part of the optimisations I have removed sprite masking so if the background
changed to the spaceship the sprites+background would blend together it all became too confusing.

Re: R-Type Deluxe screenshots.

Frame rate is still something I have to optimise. Minimum is 25hz and drops depending how
much activity is on screen. TItlescreen and Endscreen are at 50hz. It's still very playable.

Re: R-Type Deluxe screenshots.

All graphics and music are now completed thanks to Unseen Menace, Templeton and DMA-SC. I just have to
write the level specific code, make up the levels and get couple of things working properly.

R-Type Deluxe screenshots.

As not many people have seen or hear much about this game since the demoversion was released
here's some preview screenshots for you that I uploaded to Facebook yesterday. The planned
release is at STNICCC 2015 in December. Enjoy!

Re: Looking for pieces of asm source code suitable for begin

Those Bullfrog tutorials were really GREAT showing the basics of games programming in asm. They created a game called "Attack of the Mutant Golf Holes". The thing with asm is that it's totally up to your imagination as to what your wanting to write and as said above if you have a problem p...

GRAPHICS ARTIST WANTED

Hi all Well as the thread says I'm looking for a graphics artist. As you know I'm working on a new conversion of R-Type for the Atari STE. Unseen Menace who was doing all the original graphics seems to have left the ST-Scene. I've tried to contact him with no avail so now I'm looking for someone to ...

Re: How to play digital samples?

Yes a WAV can be played on an ST as its raw sample data. You need to make sure it's the correct frequency though (and big enough to fit in ram of course). If you've converted an MP3 to WAV the frequency will be 48khz so if your going to play it on an STE then you'll need to re-sample it to 25khz, 12...

Re: How to play digital samples?

I don't really know regarding the PC, for the ST you do need a cartridge such as ST-Replay 4 or Stereo Master. I would assume that if your sound card can accept input from a device such as a microphone then all you would need is the software to record the input. Years ago when I did some sample edit...

Re: How to play digital samples?

Yes the STF can play digital sound samples. The STE has a DMA chip specifically for this purpose. Here's the source code to the Megabang demo by TLB. The source includes a routine that is set-up on Timer A to replay sequenced samples at 7.5khz. It shouldn't be too difficult to adapt it to replay sam...

Marcer's game DVD

Did Marcer ever make the discs public or are the .iso's hosted anywhere?

I have the two original DVD's and I think I have scratch on one of them as I can't open the source code archive's. :(
I would like to burn an .iso back to a dvd if possible.

Cheers.

Bod.

Re: R-Type Tiles

I'll take a look at it.

I have since found the arcade level tiles as a map. I think it's going to be a right pain
to resize them to make sure they work out on multiples of 64x16.

Re: R-Type Tiles

I know that the gfx in the original roms are stored as 8x8 pixel tiles, you can see this during the ram/rom check at the beginning of the game. I don't know what's wrong with my original copy of R-Type but I've now manage to get level 2 to load and have ripped the tiles out of that version. Unfortun...

Re: R-Type Tiles

Yes I've tried that in the past and it's very time consuming. It's amazing that since the games release in 1987 up till now some 27 years you'd have thought that someone somewhere would have ripped all the graphics out of this game (Also considering how famous this game is). I've tried searching for...
