Re: Gemdos $b (CCONIS)

It is completely unnecessary to dig into the buffers themselves. Polling the contents out of unwanted contents is the clearest, safest and most portable way when a direct "clear buffer" call is not available.

Re: Gemdos $b (CCONIS)

No need to be so complicated. There is no need to mess with TOS own buffers. Just use the system calls as they were meant to, here in C but this is easily translated to bare m68k: void flush_kbd(void) { while(Bconstat(2) != 0) { (void)Bconin(2); } } reading is simple as uint32_t key = Bconin(2);

Re: Gemdos $b (CCONIS)

I personally have much better experience reading keys with the BIOS. Bconstat() to check if there is any and Bconin() to read the value. It also gives scancodes if decoded properly.

Re: Help with Pompey Pirate menus

Hey I remembered my details to sign in correctly... wahooo Welcome back! ;) As far as I know Apple has a very restrict policy on emulators in general. I'm quite sure there is no such emulator as of yet. Mainly because we have quite a few Apple users on here, and I am sure, those would have tried an...

Re: Menu system for harddisk AUTO folder? ==> RELEASED

Those games probably need GEM to be initialized to work.

My menu does not use any custom keyboard routines and only uses TOS system calls to poll the input.

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

I don't need the UNIX stuff really. I just wanted to multi task GEM stuff. Mainly so I can have a web browser open at the same time as a text editor and FTP program. I was also wondering if the web browser would work faster under a multi tasking environment, although unlikely given that jpeg decodi...

Re: STing Driver coding

I am totally unaware of Sting driver internal documentation. However the STIK API is the one Sting does provide to applications.

Maybe it is easier to write a custom driver outside of Sting that conforms to providing the STIK API by itself?

Re: SPRITEChrome

The ST version of Advanced OCP Art Studio was said to have a sprite editor. From practical work with pixel artists myself, I know they prefer regular paint tools like Neochrome or Degas over dedicated sprite editors. It might be wrong for oldschool professional software houses. But those probably ke...

Re: Interrupts disable and reenable with GCC

Thanks for the complete but large solution. I'll revert to the more simplistic approach. What is necessary for a single line assembly statement? I'll probably just do what I did in the past in assembly: move #$2700,SR ; stop irq system ... move #$2300,SR ; reenable irqs My code is game/demo stuff so...

Re: Interrupts disable and reenable with GCC

Inlining some asm would be ok if I get the according snippets. I'm not too firm with the weird syntax of inline assembly with gcc.

Interrupts disable and reenable with GCC

The thread topic describes all. What is the proper syntax to disable interrupts and how to reenable them if they were active with methods usable by GCC? It should work with baremetal or TOS code, using MinT calls is not desired.

Re: for every fan: Jack Tramiel and Family (insights)

It is quite sad to see those two last quotes in effect as of todays. users demand for 20years nothing sophisticated, and decent office PCs are indeed more pricy compared to home stuff with the same capabilities.

Thinking of the overpriced Dell and HP machines at my office :(

Another report: dropping directories works but the transfer almost always stalls in the 2nd or 3rd file depending on the amount of data copied. So far it only really works reliable for me with dropping files one by one. I'm using Chrome in an "anonymous window" to make, sure nothing is bl...

Re: Any .PRG in AUTO for blackborder?

It won't work from AUTO. Even if you set colors in AUTO, as soon as the desktop comes up, it sets either the standard palette or the one from the Control Panel.

There is no register for the border color alone, the border uses color 0 by default.

Re: In what format do you record a screenshot?

PNG is the most sensible choice, BMP comes next. JPG is useless for Atari ST shots as it looses clear pixel information.
