Re: CPU/Processor Upgrade for the Atart ST

IIRC Vampire v2 doesn't support Atari ST due to lack of signals like VPA,VMA and E needed by ST That is not correct. Now you are not correct. Are you sure? 4 days ago Igor Majstorovic (creator of the Vampire boards) confirmed these signals are on the Vampire 500 board. http://www.apollo-core.com/kn...

It's on an Amiga.

Very nice. I do hope to get something similar for my MegaSTe one day. At the moment it has a nice install of CosmosEx. But no gfx card.

Re: CPU/Processor Upgrade for the Atart ST

I think the Apollo team must have failed to find a good quality expert Atari user to help develop the Apollo Core using a Vampire A500 v2 on the Atari ST? Instead they have created an MMU configuration which mimics the Atari ST memory layout allowing them to use EmuTOS and FreeMinT on an Amiga!! htt...

I like the idea. Applaud the designers. USB is not an easy thing to support especially for an non OS friendly environment like the Atari ST.

How many VME slots does a MegaSTe have? Mine are empty at the moment but I always assumed a gfx card might go in there eventually.

Re: If you want to donate to MiSTer project.

Thanks for all your hard work.

I donated a small amount. If you port MiST, Suska or another ST core to the platform then I'd donate a bit more.

(I do understand why you haven't, without cycle accuracy they don't have great compatibility)

Re: CT60e is coming :)

Is it possible to create a version wherein the 060 is replaced with an FPGA running the apollo cpu core? No. But there is a chance the Vampire V4 can be made to fit a Falcon 030 CPU slot with a passive adaptor board. You'd need a specialised version of the Apollo Core to put in there to make it wor...

What would be an even better idea would be if such a site could handle all the red-tape with EU regarding small businesses (especially those selling electronics). i.e. The new EU rules have put several small retro PCB manufacturers (who do not want to break the law) out of business by the high fees ...

Re: Packing boxes for STE and STFM

If Robson re-made the white STF/FM/e boxes I'd take two.

I already purchased the Atari Falcon 030 boxes from him and they really do help "complete" a collection.

Albeit my collection will now take up 2x the space it once did without boxes:)

Re: Decapping fundraisings

The problem associated with decapping old chips and turning them into verilog is that they used lots of "nasty" tricks which cannot be directly implemented in an FPGA today. The circuits have to be interpreted and somewhat re-designed. It is essential that the decapping take place but it i...

Re: Gotek, HXC and more

You cannot use 1.44mb mode with an unmodified Atari ST. However you can use HxCMount for huge images. I have 1.44(!) MB HFE-format floppy disk image (i.e. 80 tracks, 2 sides, 18 sectors) that I use with my unmodified ST and a Gotek with HxC firmware. Normal DSHD (1.44MiB) floppy disk drives spin at...

Re: Gotek, HXC and more

A Gotek USB based FDD emulator is a cheaper alternative to the HxCFloppyEmulator SD Card emulator.

Both can use a firmware which gives them HxC capabilities.

FlashFloppy is a free open source firmware with capabilities slightly lower than HxC but is being actively developed.

I guess Gotek (with HXC) is for me the way to go Try flashfloppy first? It is free after all. Not as good but free. I find Ultrasatan way too expensive (2.5 the price of Gotek) One is a hard drive the other is a floppy drive! Ultrasatan is a good purchase. CosmosEx is even better (that's a HDD+FDD ...

You could use a USB -> serial port bridge.

Or use a Gotek floppy disk emulator with HxC firmware or FlashFloppy firmware

Re: Writing Atari ST programs onto floppies with PC

Martinus wrote:Are there any solutions when the drive is connected thru USB?

Only expensive custom USB floppy controllers such as Kryoflux@€99 or Supercard Pro@$99

The cheapest mechanism is a serial link from the PC to the Atari and use the Atari to write the disks back.
