Great work. @ $99 (+SDRAM board) it's a good value solution.

Re: Wanted: DB19/DSUB19 male socket connector for PCB mount.

You can buy the male connectors (for making cables) https://www.bigmessowires.com/2016/06/04/db-19-resurrecting-an-obsolete-connector/ You can also buy the female ones for cables too http://www.electronicplus.com/content/ProductPage.asp?pagenum=2&lname=&maincat=cco&subcat=cco But I can't...

Re: Prices of Amiga and Atari

If you look long enough and ask enough people Atari Falcon's come along at sensible prices. Especially if you are prepared to repair them. I bought mine spares/repairs and was able to repair them cheaply.

Instead of looking on eBay try the Scandinavian equivalents?

Ask users on this forum?

Re: Possible cheap SuperVidel hardware

My mistake I had misread the XC3S2000 datasheet which starts with "2M gates".

Yes you are correct, XC3S200 = 46,080 LE and 720Kb of block RAM.

That makes the Max10 on this device comparable if not slightly better.

Re: Possible cheap SuperVidel hardware

Erm don't mean to burst your bubble but this FPGA has 50,000 LE's and the SuperVidel FPGA has 2,000,000 LE's (i.e. SuperVidel FPGA is ~40x bigger)

Re: Atari 520 with Glitches

seriously, first, you must service them before using them. If the PSU have not been recapped, do it. same for the motherboards. Total rubbish. If it isn't broken don't fix it. (with the exception of batteries which can leak). Just keep an eye on them, check for bulges. You're much more likely to de...

Re: A Simple (?) Virtual Floppy Drive?

So the hxc firmware supports more ST file formats on a gotek than it does on the hardware it was originally designed for? The original hardware is an FPGA (+ PIC?) whereas the Gotek is an ASIC. The FPGA probably has a custom state machine rather than a CPU (or a PIC?) whereas the Gotek has an ARM C...

Re: ST Format / Unix article

ST User was the other mag more power user orientated but later became games orientated.

I believe you have to be looking about 1990 which is when I *think* Unix first came to Atari ST computers on the newly released TT030.

The formatting utility that comes with the 1.1 distribution is buggy and will corrupt your drive due to data wraparound. Try to format using the utility that comes with the 1.2 distribution

Yaqube did the AGA core and some work on the Paula floppy support but i was under the impression that there was still enough MiniMig in there too require them to open source releases

Re: Accelerated Amiga Core?

If I understand it that is using the 020 core from Yaqube which isn't open source yet AFAIK.

Technically any release (bitfile) which uses any MiniMig RTL has to provide source for all parts of the design because of the MiniMig licensing.

So that bitfile for FPGArcade hasn't been released anywhere.

Not true. SNES = 1990, A500=1987 (but A500 chipset dates to 1985) so 5 years
