Not true. SNES = 1990, A500=1987 (but A500 chipset dates to 1985) so 5 years

Re: New Internal Falcon PSU Mount for CT60, CT60e, CT63...

I wonder if someone could implement something similar to the switchless Kickstart/TOS switchers?

I think they used to clip to two places on the motherboard and latch the switch position when you held down a key during a reset?

If you want I have the HeliOS Manual here. (The OS of the transputer)

It may be a version which post-dates the ATW but a nice thing to have if you want it?

The Union Demo predates the STe and the discovery of Wake-up States. Probably not a good test?

So the conclusion is that it's all in dlfsilvers head and it's a normal PAL STe?

This is called "asynchronous design" where any random signal used as a clock. That's what i wrote above. I think ijor is talking about when you have two (or more) clocks in your design which are different frequencies but you can make them (rising) edge synchronous. In that situation you c...

Re: Argh! My new STE may have a DMA issue...

i mean CPU speed. I really feel the blitter being used while on my 2 others STE, the feeling is not there. Not sure what that could be. Could one be 60Hz and the other two 50Hz? Or one have Rev XXX of TOS with a software optimisation not present in the TOS the other two have? Like troed said the At...

I don't know what you mean with "reacts faster" but no, there's no real difference, otherwise all cycle exact demos would break.

He must mean it powers on quicker?

It's an external hard drive caddy. It dates post 8-bit. Probably not Atari. Certainly NOT a computer

I was able to get a free NVRAM chips from Dallas. Yes you will need someone to solder it in place (or fit a low-profile socket) but at least that is one less thing to worry about. Just find the part on their website and click on something like "request a sample".

Re: Improving Atari ST Uridium

I shared this thread with Hewson, former publishers of Uridium. They gave positive feedback. Their old office is 100 meters away from where the Toshiba office (where I work) is today here on Milton Park in Oxfordshire. If you've not read it, Andrew Hewson wrote a book this year and they are going to...

I thought the MSX had General Instruments AY-3-8910 (As used in Amstrad CPC & Sinclair Spectrum 128) but the SMS had the Yamaha YM2413?

Are they very similar?

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

I think it has something to do with VDP DMA VRAM FILL? Thunder Force IV makes extensive use of this. Software emulators had to improve their VRAM FILL accuracy for this game. Perhaps if it is not emulated/recreated correctly the audio core gets no DMA access for a while and then lots of data very qu...

Re: Floppy Sound Emulator

The STM32 (Gotek) which is a Cortex M0 based floppy emulator has a hack to add a buzzer to emulate floppy sounds. I believe it requires no firmware. It just produces noise in response to the stepper motor I/O on the floppy disk interface. 1 x Buzzer. 1 x BC547 or similar bipolar transistor. 1 x 1k r...

So what should I look for on eBay? There's heaps of different sellers, some call it Gotek, some don't, some have HxC preinstalled but it's all much more than 13 pounds. I just searched on ebay for "floppy disk emulator" and I got tens of sellers all the same price. £13.76 inc postage for ...

Re: What model should I go for?

I would recomend STe. There are v2.0 of most cracks which are STe compatible. STe is easier to upgrade the RAM to 4MiB. STe is easier to upgrade TOS (just swap out two EPROMs). STe sound and scrolling is soooo much better. Whatever you get budget for either a HDD interface or a floppy disk emulator ...
