Re: It's no more a MiSTery

Out of interest, did you also find problems with not all keypresses being picked up while you were walking around the menu?

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

Thabks for the updated core slingshot, it's really good to see this getting some love. I don't know if this will help with debugging, but I've been working through the Skid Row demo now that it's fixed on the latest core. One demo, BMT3, is a full overscan screen scroll with a picture of a wolf, but...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

The only thing I've found that completely fails so far is the Stuck Somewhere In Time demo. That reports that it's being run in an emulator, presumably due to checking CPU timings? Just over a year on and I've tried the last release and noticed that it's been fixed. I'm not sure which update in the...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

The Union Demo - Level 16 fullscreen fails to load, just goes back to the main menu. The original on AtariMania is a STX, so I've had to use the version on POV112 from pouet.net. Issue exists in ST and STE mode. I've found the issue, however the fix has a conflict how I interpret a part of the STe ...

I believe you did, however the only binaries I've seen are from August, from the link in the first post.

Have you uploaded any more recent ones?

Fair enough.

How does MiST correlate the mapping in the ini to the core? Is each core hard coded with an identifier, or does it go by the filename of the rbf file?

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

.Did you notice the union demo scroller eventually stops working? (the main menu one that is duplicated throughout the demos) Nott specifically, though I didn't leave the main screen on too long. I did notice that the main menu scroller is corrupted in STE mode, and toggling back to ST mode fixes i...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

The image is centered as far as I can see, no issues with that compared to original hw.

Tested on a ST only, unfortunately I have no access to a STe.

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

As the video signals (especially sync signals) are faithfully reproduced from the original schematics of the main ASIC, it won't be changed. It can be some FPGA-specific thing which produces a glitch, or more likely something with your display which doesn't agree fully with the video. As it has the...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

I repeat again: the back porch blanking is only implemented with the scandoubler (31 kHz modes). With 15kHz, you're at the mercy of your TV-set (as with the original HW). If it still dark, complain to the demo author :) Or make an YPbPr cable, and use it with the scandoubler. No problem, I'm gettin...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

I haven't had chance to test the Cuddly fullscreen on a real ST - I've pulled mine down from the loft and it doesn't recognise the internal floppy drive at all. I have had chance to test the demo on the MiST on two separate TVs (15 kHz SCART) and they both have the same symptoms with the colour fadi...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

I've done a little more testing this fine Sunday afternoon, and have one more issue to bring up. Loading the Skid Row demo (by The Alliance) using TOS 1.2 or 1.4, and at multiple points when loading, possibly on every file access, the demo prompts for the disk to be inserted (despite the fact it's a...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

Scandoubler and OSD are almost the same in every core, but how the video signal is generated is up to the specific implementation of the (emulated/recreated/whatever) machine. That makes sense. I guess it's a fiddly thing to get right, I recall the number of releases for the Amstrad core some time ...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

Any ideas about the image shifting across, I noticed that someone else reported the same thing? I didn't experience such thing on my displays. Re: It's no more a MiSTery

I explained the cause of the darkness already. I didn't want to alter the original screen for 15kHz modes, so it depends on your display. I've added a small hack to the scandoubler to force blank some pixels after the hsync (until DSOTS was good on my VGA screen). That's fine, you don't need to be ...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

I managed to test out the 23rd August version today, coincidentally trying two of my favourite demos that were initially checked by sebdel (Cuddly demos and DSOTS). Connected to a LCD screen via RGB SCART. I'm seeing the same issues that were initially reported. The Cuddly fullscreen is much darker ...
